1864 hydro adjust
 

how do do adjust the hydro linkage on a 1864 it wants to slow a bit under load. thanks in advance...

Are you asking about the 1864 specifically? Or how to adjust linkage in general? If asking about the 1864, it is the same as any other machine. :beerchug:

I'm not sure what you'd adjust for your problem description. If your tractor "slows a bit" when load is applied without changing the speed control, that can me very normal.

If your filter is possibly restricted, changing it could help your problem.

Could also be worn trunnion/weak springs, but I agree; when load is applied or going uphill, it is somewhat normal for them to slow a little bit. :beerchug:

I am interested in this phenominum also. My 2084 requires lever adjustment going uphill and in my locale that is about all there is. We also have a 2086 that is much the same. But have a 2072 that requires little or no lever adjustment going up or downhill.

My :TwoCents: on the "phenomenon": it is, from every Cub I've driven/owned, normal for them to slow when going uphill or having a load added, just the nature of the beast. It requires more power to go up a hill or pull a load, just like when you go uphill in your car requires you to push the gas pedal more to maintain the same speed. But something that I have found helped was adding a small washer to both ends of the trunnions springs. This makes them stiffer and less play is allowed. I did this on my 2284 and loved the outcome. It does make the hydro handle a little more sensitive but it also helps maintain speed better on hilly terrain. It's worth a shot :beerchug:

Here's a shot of the setup on my 2284; notice inside the spring guides at either end is a small washer. Doesn't look like it'd make much of a difference but it really does help.

It can be fixed.... not that there is anything wrong with them. It's kinda just the nature of the CC set-up.

If you want the speed decrease problem to go away, you have to either remove, the spring on the exterior hydro swash-plates, or install a heavier than stock one. Makes all the difference in the world. Just replacing it with a new one from CCC makes a difference too.

What I was looking for exactly is there a way to tighten up the linkage on the hydro, all else is fine . I have done the trunion thing on other tractors but have had the most success on tightening the linkage so that the hydro stays the same speed. My 1812 is adjusted for moldboard plowing, I never have to touch the hydro lever once that I get in the furrow.

Adjusts the same way as your 1812. Remove the side panels, tighten nut on the L.H. side.

tightened the nut my lever seems to have no more tension on it then before .....is there suppose to be 2 dished washers there. could they be flattened out ...do you have to remove the plastic dash to remove the cross bolt? or atleast get the nut and washers off. ?

On the back side there is a "friction washer" (#6). Basically, a little metal fiber washer. Maybe you didn't make it tight enough. Or maybe the washer is gone. Even if the spring washers were bad, it should still get tight. :bigthink:

The nut got tight , but it did not tighten up the hydro lever at all. My previous experences with tightening the nut has worked well in the past. I am either missing something or over looking , something silly.
