2182 Winter Cab
10 Attachment(s)
Just got home from a 2 hour round trip with this Cub Cadet cab and a model 451 snow blower that was on c-list for 5 days and am shocked that it was still available.
|
That's the same cab I have, good to see another out there!!! :beerchug:
|
I saw that, it was cheap too! I wish I had waited. Nice score!!
Could you scan the cab instructions and send me a copy? I've never found them on the net. It would be very much appreciated! PM me if you need help. :beerchug: |

nice find on the cab,I posted on in the CL section, but it is a Sims one.
Are you planning on a quick refurb on it before you mount it? |
I will get you guys copies as soon as I get everything scanned and uploaded. Darkminion, I think I will mount it first to see if I like it. Does anyone know who made these for cub cadet?

Is this part on top of these parts with the three fingers for the blower or cab? I can't see any use for it.

Here is a shot of where those fingers mount on a 451 blower. For some reason I see a lot of blowers with them removed from the chute, maybe it helps keep the blower from clogging in heavy, wet snow.

I can see the heavy wet stuff definitely sticking to those fingers. If it does mine will come off! |

Thanks for the replies. I don't think it's gonna go back on. Looks like a problem waiting to happen in wet snow. I also like the velcro fuel door.

I decided to check out the manual for the cab I picked up tonight and,,,,, I KNOW I KNOW,,,,, we really aren't supposed to read these things but, now hear me out, the people that designed this cab wants you to drill holes in the fenders for mounting it to the tractor with these brackets that came in a coffee can along with a bunch of bolts. That ain't gonna happen!!! Guess I'll try it with no brackets and see how solid it is.

Why is everyone so opposed to drilling holes in the fenders?
The cab was offered through Cub Cadet, it's a "factory" thing. It's not going to decrease the value of the machine. It's not like if in 20 years you go to sell it some guy is gonna say "OHHHHHH holes in the fender, that's $100 off the price." Because your gonna say, hey I have the cab that uses those holes, and for another $500 (or whatever) you can have it too. By then, they will be rare and worth it. I say drill the holes. Do it right. Just my :TwoCents: On the fingers in the chute. I have them in my blower/throwers. They are there to keep rocks and such from going so far. They are supposed to be mounted with a spring that lets them move "open" when they are hit. I don't have any issues from running them, and I see them as a safety thing. Not for the operator, but for things in the machines path. (I.E. other people, windows, cars....) If you need pic of the spring and how it's supposed to me mounted, I'm sure I can snap a pic. :beerchug: |
Simple answer for this trying problem, just find a used fender pan and drill the worst one for the cab, keep the nice one for whenever. :biggrin2: :beerchug:
|
Sorry, I lied! Just looked at the cab and at least 2 of them are there! If I do drill them I will put nutzerts in.
|
For what it's worth guys, I have the same cab on my 1864 and do not have the fender mounts installed (partly because it didn't come with them :biggrin2:). I just have the two rear braces that bolt to the frame and the mount points on the footrests; so far, no issues.
Edit: Ok, so I lied. I have the mounts that are supposed to secure it to the fenders, just never drilled the holes and bolted it up. Haven't seen a need to yet. |

Just be careful you don't drill through the gas tank. I had a Cyclops that the PO had installed a cup holder on top of the fender, yep drilled right through the top of the fender and tank. :biggrin2:
