My friends 1947 Cub
 

A museum piece, driving it was a thrill. Only thing left is a powder coat the exhaust header. My friend went OVERBOARD with this one. Every nut, bolt, whatever is BRAND NEW.

In showing me the birth certificate & history it was born in JUN/JUL- 1947 & the last of its kind., IH then went to LOW BOY.

I think you may have got some of you info mixed up though..... the Farmall Cub was born in 1947.... it can't be the last of it's kind.... it must be the first. Production started in '47 with SN# 501. The Lo-Boy came out in '55. :beerchug:

My dad bought one like that when I was a baby. Last I saw it, was when I was 16. Don't know what happen to it. Sure would like to have it now!

My 48 plowed snow this weekend.

You are right-o, good sir. I need to find some pics of my Dad's, he was always very proud of it because it was a low serial 1947 he had restored in the same manner as what Nik posted. Only real difference is the one my Dad has has the rear lift with spring assist. Otherwise you'd be hard pressed to tell what Nik posted and my dads apart.

Looks weird with black lights.

Instead of powder coating, tell your friend to look into JET-HOT coating the exhaust manifold and or exhaust pipe.

Takes up too much room in the garage with the blade on the front. I like the looks of the mid mount blade.

The little tractor is fun, and it has all the power of a good push mower.

Yeah I'm thinking you may have got the last part, "the last of it's kind., IH then went to LOW BOY" mistaken.
Because my 1956 Cub is virtually the same tractor, ain't a low boy.
If I'm not mistaken the low boy wasn't introduced until 1955. Could be off a little, don't have the "IH bible" handy right now.:bigthink:

Great looking Cub for sure, assume it is an early one with the apparent attention to detail and the “Circle Cub” decals on the dog legs (“Circle Cubs” are the early productions ones and had those decals and are called out kind of like 4-digit O’s). No hydraulics, I like, my next one will be a Circle Cub w/o hydraulics or starter/lights, simple as it gets and nothing more fun than giving the crank a spin and watching it come to life!

Yep, LoBoy’s started in 1955, I have an early one (39X one made) and they were “badged” International Cubs.
