Just picked up 1872 with a 60" deck and a three point and a rear pto. It's alittle rough but should have it running in a few days. Ohh and I'm going back in a couple weeks to get the tiller for it.

67 year old newbie here. What's the difference 'tween a 1641 garden tractor and a super garden tractor?

rdehli 02-02-2015 04:34 PM

Power steering, longer frame, bigger rear wheels, bigger front axle, front hydraulic outlets, steering brakes, Kohler engine - probably still missing some

cubcadet 02-02-2015 05:03 PM

Congrats on the super.

Longer, larger wheels and tires, bigger front axle, power steering, turning brakes and lower gearing. Rear PTO was also an option with a Cat 3 point hitch. Power wise they used 18 -22 HP engines from Onan, Kohler, Kubota and Kawaski. This is the list of Supers.

1872 Kohler Mag18
1912 Onan
1914 Onan
2072 Onan (early 2072's had Onan's)
2072 Kohler Mag 20
Cyclops
1782 Kubota D 640 diesel
1882 Kohler Mag18
2086 Kawasaki FD620D
2082 Kohler Mag 20

Congrats on the 1872. Rear PTO is hard to come by. :beerchug:

What they said.!!!

DragonCub,
Nice snag my friend! Three point and rear PTO to boot. Cool! Don't delay on the tiller. They are harder to find and pricey. Snap some pics of it after ya pick it up. :beerchug:

Yesterday I got a chance to mess with it. I have a bad pto switch so I had to bypass it to get it to turn over. The carb was no good so I pulled the carb off my 782 and it fired right up runs good but have an issue. The front seal on the hydro pump leaks. Guess I'll pull all that apart and see about getting a new seal Monday.

dragoncub 06-04-2015 06:19 PM

Well it's been awhile but I got it running and mowing. I had to get a new ignition switch, replace the seal on the hydro pump and while it was apart I noticed the bushings on the drive shaft were destroyed so I ordered some new ones and installed them. Since then I have mowed with it several times I have to say out of all the mowers I've owed this 60" haban deck is the best mowing deck I've mowed with. Now I'm going to start fixing the worn out parts, deck bearings, tie rod ends things like that. Also the PO put a tube in one of the front wheels and it rusted it pretty good so I'll have to cut out the bad spots and repair it with one of the old rims I've got.
