Is it hard to mount a 3pt hitch off a Sears garden tractor on a Cub Cadet?

Hi guys. I recently got a Sears 10xl in a trade I made. Well I'm wanting to sell the tractor but I really wanna keep the 3point hitch off the back of it for one of my Cubs. My question is how hard will it be to mount on a cub cadet? Thanks for information in advance and Merry Christmas.

If you have a welder and a torch you can do it.

I can't find the picture but it takes an adapter plate and you need to modify the handle to clear the cub cadet fender.

I'm sure it was home made. If I remember correctly, it was mounted at the top where the Cub Cadet rear lift casting pivots and bolted onto the lower rear sleeve hitch adapter U shaped bracket.

What model CC are you going to put it on?

Dad built a really nice adapter bracket years ago that works like a charm... Then you just bend the arm to clear the cub cadet fenders.. The setup works like a charm.. We really like the Sears hitch and equipment a lot better than the brinly stuff.. Adjustments and fine tuning are easier.

I will try to get you some pictures in the next day or so. We currently have the setup on a 128.. Dad probably built 10 or so setups over the last 20 years.

Basically it converts the flat rear cover area on the cub to the angled mounting area on the sears.

Not totally sure. Either my 582special or my 70. Not sure which would be easier to mount it to.

Jay, I looked at the back of the Sears and it looks like only 4 bolts holding it on the back. :bigthink:

I took some really quick pictures this afternoon. The key to the whole setup is keeping all the geometry the same as it was on the sears..

I took pictures of a complete setup mounted on a 128 and I also took some pictures of an adapter bracket that we started building and never finished.. every time he built one he would start another so we didn't loose the pattern.

This setup will work on any of the cub cadets with the IH built cast iron rear axle. We have had them on everything from originals up to a 82 series. The fender pan has to be trimmed a bit on the later tractors to clear the top of the lift arm brackets.. this is not a problem on the older round fender or square fender tractors up thru the 125 series.

Very sweet setup those pics definitely help. Thanks everyone for the help.

After looking back at the other posts I realized you have a 582 special... it has the lightweight peerless rear axle... this setup would not work with that because the whole rear of the tractor is different..

I would use the 70... there is a lot more beef back there to bolt the adapter bracket to..
