Uncatchable mouse.
We've had a mouse in our house for a while now and he's be very resistant to my efforts to trapped him. This morning I woke up and went into the bathroom and there he was in the toilet, not sure what he was doing there but he got to ride the whirlpool. :biggrin2:

Sounds like your troubles went down the drain! Lol we had some in our attic, but traps and poison have taken care of that. Hopefully!

I like to bait the trap with peanut butter, never fails for me. Maybe he smelled a passed PB&J and decided to jump right in:bigthink: |

Somebody left the seat up?:biggrin2:

He wouldn't go for peanut butter or cheese or anything else really, I'd bait the trap and put it right were he always was but he'd never touch it.

Chocolate is the best for nailing those little SOB's. They cannot resist chocolate.:beerchug:

One year in my pole shed ,I stapled clear plastic to the 2x4 crossbeams on the roof for insulation . Working down there i hear a mouse trying to scurry around frantically up there and see what I think is a shrew after it ,then a minute later saw a black snake up there after both of them he got one of them ....hard core drama

Leave it to the pros, get a cat.

First you see bubbles, then no more bubbles....... |
Sunflower seeds wedged under the trigger sometimes work when they're really clever. A pail with some seeds (grass seed works well) and trap under a hole in a cover also works pretty well on the hard to catch mice - they drop through the hole and land on the trap. My grandfather used an ear of corn hanging over the trap trigger with good success too.
We’ve had any number of mice and mousers. Went to use the sc2400 this past Spring - my wife had used it a couple times to mow during the previous week or two and my daughter had used it once. I wanted to drag the drive with it so I started it warming up while I switched over to blade from deck. Took it to the garage to air up one of the tires that goes flat intermittently and when I got there saw a mouse sitting on the running board looking at me. “This can’t be good.” Sure enough, very large mouse nest over the dash with lots of half-size mice running every direction. Glad it was me that discovered them - this story might have ended up in the next county! Mice were still bailing an hour later and after a good cleaning and hosing out. There was mouse nest down in the air intake even. They’ve tried again a couple times so I go up there and look occasionally. There was a big ol’ black snake living on the hillside where I park machines; haven’t seen him or his discarded skin lately so I guess he’s gone elsewhere. Had a close encounter with it one afternoon while clearing the trunk of a 1970 Spitfire that I was sending down to my nephew in Georgia. That snake came sliding out of the clothe cover when I lifted it out of the trunk; gave me a withering, depreciating look and slid off. The good mouser, a big yellow tabby male, passed away a couple years ago and so far no replacements have “stuck.” We’ve got a black kitten but she’s too small to be outside on her own; owls might make a meal of her. I think she’s going to be a good one though. She has quite an attack strategy. That big tabby was good at keeping the moles out of the yard too. |

I made what is supposed to be one of the best mouse traps, the deal is when the mouse walks into the can it spins and the mouse falls in. The bottom has about an 1 1/2" of water in it, if this works I'm going to make one for in the shed but I will probably have to use washer fluid so it doesn't freeze.

I have a larger version made out of a 5 gal pail out at the farm. Washer fluid works well. :beerchug:

We had a mouse in the shop a couple years back we couldnt catch to save our lives! We had a 5gallon bucket that had some old gas in it we drained out of an old tank. And had a yard stick leaning on the bucket, just by coincedense, and the next morning there were 2 mice in bottom of the bucket.

Works great in the hunting cabin because the oil does not evaporate and the mice that fall in do not decompose and stink up the place. Works good for places that are not visited often in order to fish out the bodies. |
