New 782 Owner

Hi everyone, my name John. I've been away from Cub Cadets for awhile. I have been searching for a 782 and Lew had this nice early 782 posted for sale, so I decided to take the plunge back into the cub scene.

I need to track down a mower deck for this machine, so I can mow with it this year.

Hey John, welcome back into the group.:beerchug: Once it's in your system, it's nearly impossible to get out.
Great looking 782, congrats:beerchug:
Way to go Lew, free up some space for more:bigthink:

I've got one just like that with front hydraulics, I think both mine and yours are '82s (the 142 signifies 1982? Correct me if I'm wrong), and I'll tell you what it's probably my favorite machine now. Real nice looking, comfortable, capable. Mine is a REAL bad oil burner so it's gonna need a transplant at some point but it's been a good snow plow and lawn sweeper tractor.

Nice 782, you have there!

John147 02-29-2016 06:47 PM

Thanks everyone i took some more pictures but photobucket is being kinda stupid today. I really want to make PA plow day i just have to decide if i can swing everything needed. I have to also decided on CAT-0 or sleeve hitch, I have a 12" brinly CAT-0 plow but i'm not sure i want to run that on the 782.

John147 03-24-2016 10:03 PM

Had the cub out while i was dragging my bolens collection out for it's hopeful new owner tomorrow. Took a picture with a trailer full of plows i also got a mower deck needs some work.

Nice looking 782!! I don't see too many of the yellow 782's around here..

Enjoy it!!:beerchug:

ccguy 03-25-2016 08:41 PM

That 782 is pretty cool...always liked the early units with the yellow pedestal. Looks to be a late 1982.

While my diesel hunt is on hold for a couple day while i wait for an answer i did a little tire swap took these alltrails into work and filled them with washer fluid as it's free then put my chain on. almost time for PA plow day in i can find a sleeve hitch in time.

No 2 link they say 4 link is better in dirt anyways due to lexx space to get clogged with mud.

jaynjeep 03-26-2016 08:41 PM

Never thought about chains for plowing in the dirt:bigthink:

I really like the looks of those tires :beerchug::beerchug:

Finally got my sleeve hitch and installed it just need some longer hardware for i can install the trailer hitch bracket.

I also picked up this Brinly plow yesterday my share was broken and i stole this plow and it's in very nice shape. The one issue i hit is my Brinly adapter it tweeked i am going to head into work early tomorrow and heat it and use the press to fix it.

Seems fine never realized how big these things are till they were in my hand.

Got the brinly adapter straight this morning it's a little wide so i used washer to take the slack up next year i'll get a new adapter. I think i set the plow up right but i have no idea really.

Those bolts I used are 3/4" longer than factory. Keep me in mind if you want a heavy duty sleeve hitch adapter. I haven't heard of anyone bending one of mine yet :beerchug:

darkminion_17 04-13-2016 10:29 PM

When you get to plowday there will be plenty of guys that give you pointers on setting up your plow correctly,BTW do not use the that black plate you have between the plow and the hitch.

jaynjeep 04-13-2016 10:49 PM

Looks like you will be pretty close on the plow setup... you can fine tune it from there... :beerchug:

Looks great!

John147 04-27-2016 07:53 PM

Well having my first issue went to mow the lawn today and got nothing when turning the key. I was able to jump the solenoid and it started right up going to check the brake switch first.

ol'George 04-28-2016 07:23 AM

Also check the back of the Ign.switch they tend to give problems there with the terminal ends, can also give other problems like no charging issues.
just the nature of things, especially so, if let sit outside.

darkminion_17 04-28-2016 09:35 AM

Jiggle the pto switch when turning the key, maybe it has dirty contacts.
