PA free fishing day

Today was free fishing day, two days a year you can fish with no license. I took my oldest boy out and we caught about 30 fish between the two of us, we got 5 bass, 2 trout and a ton of bluegill. The largest fish was a bass my son caught which was about 8" long, he was concerned that his lightning McQueen fishing pole was going to break. anyway here's some pics.

Looks like a great time, Tim!

Some of the best moments of our lives. The smile on his face says it all! As they get older it takes more to make them happy. I took my 14 yo out last month and let him drive 37 miles on 4 wheeling trails in "his" 86 4Runner, I could not wipe the smile off his face. :beerchug:

I was gonna say I thought that was a rock bass. Not very common here at all. I just saw my first one recently.

Looks like you guys had fun!!

In Illinois, you only need a license to fish if you get caught by the game warden... :biggrin2:

Yes, we had a great time. Last time we tried fishing with him was 2yrs ago and it was a disaster, we went to a spot my wife picked and didn't catch a fish all day and when your fishing with a kid the only way to keep there attention is to actually catch fish. Yesterday I took him to a spot where I use to fish that knew would keep him entertained, the only bad thing about the spot is the snakes. And I'm not talking about garden snakes, I'm talking about copperheads and rattle snakes. I never gave it much thought when I fished there back in the day but I was pretty nervous having him with me, I made sure he walked behind me and only walked where I walked. The only snake we saw all day was a 3ft copperhead swimming across the lake.

There are only 3 kinds of snakes that I'm scared of.

1.) Big snakes
2.) Little snakes
3.) Sticks that look like snakes

Not saying I wouldn't go there, but I'd have a "snake killer" on me. :Explode:

I don't like snakes either, the only good snake is a dead snake. The one we saw yesterday was 50ft away and the was close enough to make my skin crawl.
