Getting ready for the fair.
 

The local fair will be going on this week and I will have a booth setup for the powder coating business, here's just a few of the items that will be on display.

I needed to make a way to display the color samples without people being able to walk off with them, can anybody spot the cub parts?

Man I miss the fairs this time of year. Used to go to so many back home. Chatham, Rhinebeck, and Schylerville to name a few. Tractor pulls were the best.

probably never, its much easier to do bodywork with regular filler than with the stuff you have to use when powder coating, not that it couldn't be done but it would be alot more time consuming unless you had perfect sheet metal.

Nice samples of your powder coating,I am sure someone will bring a pair of cutting pliers.

How big is your oven? Is it gas or electric?

I am coating the fenders and hood on a customers tractor now. Its actually pretty easy on his to hammer the dents out as you can get to the backs. The rear fenders turned out great shot a yellow on them that is close to stock color, then shot clear powder over it for extra protection. I have buffed powder coat out for really picky customers but end up charging them more for it.

the oven is 6'x6'x8' and runs off propane.


i dont have a problem doing a whole tractor in powder coat if there willing to pay for all the time it would take to do the bodywork if they wanted it perfect, for my own tractors i will probably stick to paint. iv'e been doing paint and body work professionally for about 20yrs and old habits die hard, the next tractor i do i plan to do everything but the sheet metal an rearend in powder coat but it will be a custom job.

Ahh ok. Mine is 4'x'4' 6.5' tall. I built it and its electric. But I need a bigger one but want gas as once you get above a certain size gas is cheaper to run as most place don't have 3 phase to run that much power. Did you buy or build yours? I been looking for burner setups for natural gas to build a larger one. I priced a 20ft oven and they wanted $35k for it threw a few places, way to spendy.

Those rims are purty!

Reminds me of my earlier years and had different color rims and hubcaps & trim rings on one side of my truck versus the other side.

Took some people awhile to notice.

When they asked why, I told them you can only see one side at a time so why not have some variety.

My cousin just came and told me there raffling off a cub at the other end of the fair so I had to rush right done there and check it out, turns out to be a pretty decent looking 1650. I got 7 tickets for $5 and the drawing is next Saturday at there club show, I might attend the show with my cubs and with any luck I will be coming home with an extra cub.:biggrin2:

If you get a 1650 for $35 I'm going to be mad. :biggrin2:

So Tim is the fair paying off with some decent leads/customers for the shop? Im thinking it will if it hasn't already.

It was 7 tickets for $5 not $5 each. As far as the powder coating it's going really well, I've talked to alot of people that seem really interested so hopefully they spend some money.
