WOW, I know April is a good month but oh my word. Those green guys are serious.

mortten 12-18-2016 09:42 AM

As long as you can see the bolt wholes.

Cub Cadet 123 12-18-2016 11:46 AM

That's definitely not a Lew price, but a heck of a Lew-Lew price!!! Wonder if I paint my NOS 123 hood yellow I can pass it off as one?:bigthink: They probably look at the prices some cubby guys pay for things and laugh, too.

It's only money, and you can't take it with you.
I never saw a hearse with a luggage rack.:biggrin2:
Sad thing is a fellow needing a hood for his "LAWNMOWER" has to pay big dollars or go without because somebody sold one on ebay for an inflated price.
Now everybody wants big money for a rusty tin can.

jaynjeep 12-18-2016 07:50 PM

WOW!!! Apparently there are some people that want that bad!:beerchug:

I would have to go without im afraid!:beerchug:

Jeff in Pa 12-18-2016 08:16 PM

Somebody is going to very happy and a LOT lighter in the wallet :beer2:

They may not be the same person though :biggrin2:

Billy-O 12-18-2016 09:03 PM

Makes me wonder what a whole NOS tractor would fetch? Wow!

zippy1 12-18-2016 11:31 PM

Sure, but the asking price don't mean nothing unless he get's it. CRAZY.

rocker582special 12-18-2016 11:57 PM

That's a little ridiculous if you ask me. Come on, it's a hood. I don't care what color it is. What a joke.

You're right Zippy, but this one is an auction. The starting price was $495 and it's been bid up from there. Someone is actually going to pay that price! Wow.

Sam Mac 12-19-2016 07:45 AM

Note to self, go and pick up some yellow paint and a JD hood, get rick quick. :biggrin2:

Leadslingingdaddy 12-19-2016 08:13 AM

JD = Just Dollars... People spend thousands on a bottle of wine just to pisz it out... At least he will be able to look at the hood for a bit longer...

Would I do it...??? HeLLL no.... buy a lot on nice cigars for that money!

olds45512 12-19-2016 08:19 AM

You guys are aware that this hood is yellow metallic and it's for a patio Deere right? I'm sure if cub had done custom colors and someone had a NOS hood that it would be bid up like crazy as well.

Mike McKown 12-19-2016 08:22 AM

What is a "patio" Deere?

Other than the color, isn't this hood like all the other fiberglass Deere hoods? I thought the only thing special on the Patios was the paint scheme and seat color? They are pretty cool looking machines. Just recently saw one on CL near here, never got to see a real one in person though.

They are usually quite prominent at the Tri-State Small Engine Show in Portland, Indiana in August. Sometimes you will see them for sale or their parts for sale. I always thought they were Jane Deere's, but now I know better. The seats usually have pricey tags on them when I see them for sale. They do not appear to be very rare to me, but I do not know much about the JD line.

I don't believe there's a way to tell a real one from a regular Deere painted up, there's probably more now than there was when they were made.

rocker582special 12-19-2016 11:35 AM

I wish cub cadet had done a "patio" line. Would have been cool to see.

Looks like they're not potty trained yet.

Maybe they're just nervous about getting their picture taken.

I probably didn't get a Lew deal but when you live in the desert and your thirsty sometimes you just gotta pay if you want to drink. You live in the land of cheap Cubs but you have stupid high taxes and snow, I live in the land of cheap taxes and almost no snow but no Cubs. I guess it all works out. :beerchug:

The first year was 1969 and there was no way to identify one. After that they had a unique kind code in the serial number.

This is why I prefer the yellow machines: made every bit as well as the green ones but for reasonable money. The guy who sold me the 147 with the electric lifter deals in used machinery; he has everything, Ingersol, Case, Cubs, Murray, you name it. He told me he prefers to deal the green ones because it's easy to make money on them. Even the truly derelict ones sell.

Cub Cadet 123 12-19-2016 10:32 PM

We've seen M&W creepy gears go that high or higher......one thing about an auction, you always pay the highest price for the item of anyone who is interested in it.

I remember cheaking in daily on the site.but it seems to me as the months go by the less and less accully OCC content is in this forum. I'm just saying it was about old school cubs and now it like MTF instead. Maybe we need a ih made cub section only in this forum. Just the opinion of a grumpy cubber

What are you talking about? This thread is in the general talk section so it's perfectly fine, if you only care about IH built cubs then go to this section.
