Just bought an 1864. Found it on Flea Bay. Made the deal over the phone, hope it doesn't bite me in the A$$. Anyway I'm having it shipped rather than going to pick it up. Shipping price was better than I could do if I went to get it. Guy said it had a mouse nest in the blower housing and it's not running as it should. At least it runs so the plan is to patch it up and then do an engine swap with the engine in the wife's JD dump truck. The JD has a CH22 with only 25 hours on it and it gets about 5 hours per year so it doesn't need a first class engine. I'll do the normal rear end re-seal, rear end braces, new fuel lines, seat cover, gauges and what ever else it needs. Here are a couple pics. More after I get my hands on it. :beerchug:

Yep, it's in PA. Late 1995 machine. Can't find anything in this area. All we have around here is clapped out Murrys, Crapsmans and Big Box junkers. :beerchug:

Seat cover? To tight to just buy a new seat? Congrats on the new cub Sam.:beerchug:

Some duct tape and a seat cover, good as old and better than new. Besides the seat covers double as cup holders and they are cloth so your butt doesn't sweat. :biggrin2:

Should be one Bad A$$ tractor with a CH22 under the plastic. Guess it will be a 2264, sort of like a short 2284. I can see a set of loaded Tru-Powers on the back and some ribbed sneakers up front. Merry Christmas to ME! Probably won't do much till the weather warms up, come on spring. :beerchug:

PeterJ 12-19-2016 07:39 PM

Congratulations!!

I hope you enjoy it!

You definitely got the pick of the litter from that group! Now let's hope the shipper doesn't mess up the plastic in transit. Reveal in April maybe?

Already warned the seller about the tender plastic. I have a very nice set of side panels on the shelf. If I have to spring for a new grill I will. I want to make this one into a good looker. It will probably be down to a bare frame overhaul. It will get what ever it needs. :beerchug:

Mike I'm guessing the drone was grounded or it would have been in your barn. Been looking for an 1864 for a long time, had to go to PA for one. Almost had a deal for another one from the same place but that one got sold a few hours after I talked to the guy, told him I would call him back, 1st guy with the $$$ wins . Guess I should have just pulled the trigger. It was a little more than I wanted to spring for but it only had 196 hours on it and it looked like new. :beerchug:

They had another 1864 that was super nice, had a brand new snow blower with wheel weights and a 54" deck 196 hours on the clock. It was a year older than the one I got. I was working on a deal to take both 1864's and the 2072.

Sam Mac 12-19-2016 09:03 PM

It has been a while. I wanted an 1864 or 2284 and they are hard to find or they are big $$$.

Should have said something. I find 1864's all the time here. Most are decent and they go for $800 - $1200 on average here. Found this the other day. Still up....

Guess I should have also said or they are a 2 day round trip to pick up. Anyway I think I got something to keep me busy for a while.

Shrewcub 12-19-2016 10:58 PM

Congratulations Sam! I see now you won't be making the pass thru my area, but I'll be looking forward to the usual go-thru thread. :beerchug:

DieselDoctor 12-20-2016 01:34 AM

Congrats Sam! Looks like a really clean unit, someone must have taken care of her thru the years!

Oak 12-20-2016 06:04 AM

Congrats Sam.:beerchug: How did you ship it if you don't mind me asking?

Leadslingingdaddy 12-20-2016 06:50 AM

I bought it from Perry equipment. They setup the shipping through a trucking company that they work with. Cost is $165.00 delivered to my local Cub dealer. They needed to ship to a business that has a fork lift to unload the trailer. I'll get back to you with more info when I get it.

Randy

This one will replace the 1641 that I have been mowing with. The 1641 is going to the step son to deal with his lawn. :beerchug:

IliketheRedcubs 12-20-2016 08:18 AM

Way to go Sam! We should refer to you as Cyclops Sam! Has a nice ring to it! :biggrin2::beerchug:

Congrats Sam, hope you enjoy it.:beerchug:

BIGMOZEKE 12-21-2016 05:38 AM

Well glad that you finally got one Sam.
They really do drive nice and is one of the best cubs that I have for sure.
Once I got mine running I had to stop because of the weather, but come this spring it will get some more TLC as well.

Have fun and we look forward to all of the detailed posts and tons of pics.

Pretty sure Diesel Doctor grabbed the 2072 but you can check with Gerald at Perry power equip 1-717-789-3532. I know that he has a 1541 and a 3185 that he wants gone.

Only the 1541 left! No Christmas SGT cub pick for me...:crap:

You got one, Lew got a 100, Jon got a 982 ...I have been a good boy!

I give a brand new car to my girlfriend for her birthday so she didn't argue about my cub addiction anymore but I know it's a limited time offer! So I better hurry before she change his mind.

Ps: I need a snow blade, a Command engine 20hp+ or a set of valves for a M18 ASAP! Deer Santa...

Today was Christmas for me. The 1864 showed up. Seller Perry Power did an amazing job crating it up and strapping it down. Not a scratch on it from shipping. The guys at Twin County Saw & Mower loaded to whole thing on my trailer. Got it home, unloaded it. Put some gas in the tank and gave it a squirt of gas down the carb and it fired right up. Engine actually sounds decent although I think it's running a little rich, makes some black smoke on throttle up. Every thing works. Should be an easy one to go through. I even put it to work dragging the crate off the trailer. Think I hit a home run on this one. :beerchug:
