Here's some pics of a few of the shop trucks we've had, this is probably only a 1/3 of them. Keep in mind it was the 90's and early 2000's so the graphics and colors are a bit dated. These are pics of pics so the quality isn't great. All these trucks had 12 coats of clear that were wetsanded and buffed so you couldn't feel the paint edge where it went from one color to another. The older black Chevy with the waves on the bottom was totaled by the guys kid that bought it, I saw the Ford a couple years ago and it's all rusted out and has a blue camper top on it.

You guys really put some time in on those. Tell us about the graphics, is it painted on or decals? Were you guys doing the graphic work? Personally I have never liked anything more than pin stripes, just not my style. But you have to respect the guys putting them on and not making a mess!

Tim why did you make me look at all those Chevy's before I got to see that beautiful Ford ?

Every year my dad would get a new truck and drive it home from the dealer and pull it straight in the shop, from there it was torn apart and wetsanded down for paint. Paint day would start at about 6am and wouldn't be done until 8 or 9 at night. The graphics we're layed out by a guy named Thad Cunningham, the day we were painting he would show up with 5 or 6 drawings​and we would pick the one we liked and he would start laying it out. All the painting besides any airbrush work was done by my dad, I didn't paint back then but I was involved in all the taping every time we went from one color to another. Once the graphics we're done the truck would get 6 coats of clear, once the clear dried it was wetsanded smooth and 6 more coats were applied and they were also wetsanded once dry. Once the truck was buffed and done you could run your finger down the side and not feel any of the paint edges​. We no longer do this because the dealers would never give my dad any extra on trade in but then they would turn around and sell the trucks for top buck.

I'm picturing you riding around in one of those sporting a mullet. :biggrin2:

Nope, no mullet for me. Long hair on a guy was something that didn't fly with my dad, we had a guy working here with a ponytail and my dad always threatened to cut it off.:biggrin2:

MJ That's what my buddy with a new Z06 said until the other night when he tried to pull away from me and I stayed side by side with no problem for $50,000 less. ( and that's with a very mild tune ) Now before all the vette and chevytards say oh yeah but put some turns in the road and see what happens. For under $10,000 I could upgrade the suspension Run as good or better and still have $40,000 left over to build a new garage just to keep it in. Don't get me wrong the Z06 is an incredible machine in fact I was going to buy one. I am just to tall and fat to fit. Not going to spend that much on a car I am not comfortable in. I enjoy nothing more than spanking Vettes and camaros. Now with a pulley, boostapump some spark plugs and a new tune we are approaching demon territory. I forgot the half shafts I'm sure they will need an upgraded too. Another $3000 still plenty left for that garage. Since I've killed a couple hellcats it might be time to exercise some demons. :bigthink:

Yes, we use to tow before the state police mandated that you had to have a wrecker and a roll back as well as a fenced in area to store the cars.

No im just giving you a hard time...some of my best friends are national winning modified truck puller engine builders, and huge ford guys....too bad you cant stroke a ford big block with a ford crank and rods though hey..?? wonder why they use a chevy crank and rodS, (OR SIZE) to fit...weird, engineers...ford has great marketing and a great fleet program.....Chevy lost there ass when it all came crashing down, (Union driven, greedy execs??? almost like an IH ending) and i wouldnt buy one after....i like your mustang...just remember my mom talking about her 64.5 ragtop..was definitely a girls car...i just like old GM...hell i wouldnt mind an old 62-64 galaxie 500, or a fairlane....but other than that..and think of all the GM cars..big block fords you have to drill all the oil passages to 9/16"...parts x2 as much...cant even put the damn fuse layout on the underside of the cover, have to go to the manual????? and whats up with the 17 different diesel engines now....????im not saying chevy has it all figured out, shooot all my old trucks were rust buckets...but i heard a ford guy say once that if you checked the timing chain, (tensioners, etc) and crank and main bearings every 100k...that a sbc will run forever....and dodges are made out of old soup cans and batteries....trust me i have one..its my work truck....if they wouldnt have started stuffing cummins 5.9s in there kicking off this whole diesel fad, they would be far dead....ghost wiring??? what the hell is that all about....

Wow Im not sure how to answer all that but, ok no problem just stirring the pot a little myself.

Just a few ,words to defend my Dodges: I've had several, and several I still have. My first car was a 1972 B100 van, still have it with 440,000 miles on it and if I were to drop a battery in it and pour in some gas, it would start first try. I have a 77 B200 van that has only let me down twice, and both of those times the battery was the culprit (different batteries both times). I've also owned a 1978 Ramcharger (built in Ohio) and a 1988 Ramcharger (built in Mexico) and hands-down the 78 is better-ride, power, fuel economy, reliability, fit & finish, everything. I painted it to match the Lil Red Express trucks from that era, with gold accents. Anyways, My point is if you own some old American-built iron and have a good understanding of how it works, you won't be let down, regardless of brand. I love my old dodges and always will, also love my father' 1929 Ford Model A. Heck, they power airplanes with those engines. I love our fleet of old Willys jeeps. I love things that take care of the owner as well or better than the owner takes care of it.

i totally agree with you.....love old american iron..i would take an old power wagon for sure!!

but like i said before, charles, your mustang is one badass ride.....have you done the 100$ bill trick to anyone yet??

I have not done the $100 trick. I am very happy with how the car turned out.
