Clean 169....
 

Anyone have any idea what this thing is worth?? Too much done to list....comes with 50" mower deck with upgraded spindles...total motor build, done well, all new wiring, no mess very detailed...just some guestimates would be fine....

I'm not sure that there is any real way to put a price on that. You did an amazing job. I'd say that it's worth whatever you can get out of it. If you really want to sell it, throw $2000 on it and see if anyone bites. I don't know if that would even cover what you have in it.... but that's just kind of how it is.

Yeah that's a work of art imo and my favorite 169 on our board. I'm thinking the same, maybe 2,500 to 3k. You probably have 3 to 4K in it if I would guess. You got some some nice stuff dude from tractors to saws.

All I can say is WOW!! It belongs in a museum. :bigeyes:

That's the nicest 169 I've ever seen. That needs to go to the right person, I would screen them closely. :biggrin2:

I agree with the others!

I'd say start at $3,000.
Otherwise to whomever is interested, good luck finding 1 and making it anywhere near comparable.

Thank you guys very much, I appreciate it...the thing is a beast too it revs to I don't even know without hesitation and has more n&ts than I thought it would when I was building it...I was thinking the same thing Jon, alvy and thank you......it's ashame because other than riding the kids around on it and taking it to steam shows it doesn't get used much ....I spend more time wiping it down......anyways I just have been back and forth about it...I want to build a pole shed and finish my truck.....hard to let em go that's for sure...believe it or not I really don't have that much into it...I made most of the stuff and have a cub scrapyard nearby...boots and seat were the most...I tried to keep it original as possible and have various pieces if anyone ever wanted to put them back, (diff cover, block off plates, ignition and motor parts)....I don't know.....I'm on the fence...but thank you much for the kind words as always...I need to get this 72d finished...she's gonna be a worker....well, main mower....wouldn't be an issue if I had more room!!!!!..

MJ, outstanding work! I enjoyed the build thread too when you did it. In my personal belief, resto-mods aren't worth as much as how it came from the factory but that is just the collector in me. I know you said you have all the original stuff so that is a +. I'm thinking in the $2k range also.

I don't know what to do really...one guy is interested, and he has money but I've worked on his saws and he does not take good care of them....just weird compared to today..I mean unless you're gonna spend 10k$.....my dad was in a pinch 12 yrs or so ago and had to mow, (he has 5 acres of grass!!) Anyways he spend 4k$ on a Greene piece of shit that the tires have literally fallen off of.. I think it's a g100?? Anyways it was a good deal at the time and the thing although looking like a garden tractor, (except for being belt driven) is a complete pile of cast aluminum and nylon bushings and just stamped crap...he takes great care in maintenance also...needless to say it's not even a quarter of what these machines were as far as shear ruggedness.....he has since bought a scag cheetah......but it's just crazy.....anyways I didn't veer far from original, just tried to improve upon....in fact other than the quiet line hydraulic lift setup and motor build, its just a ton of hours, some different materials and some improvements of known weakpoints ..I mean it has all threaded stainless zerks and custom bronze and steel bushings with machined grease channels and really good parts...alot of brass and stainless well you know, just alot of detail....but like your thing says Mr oak, this ain't no hobby!!!!!

Anyways thanks again guys, just wondered what to do...maybe I'll make another hear of shows, sink a plow in the ground with it and see what happens this winter...he did offer me close to what some had said...

I'm just finishing up a 104 that was a POS as well as the 126 I did last year, and I'm surely upside down in both!
They will make their debut at RPRU in Des Moines next month.
You should wander over to the Hawkeye state and bring that beauty along!!

If you have a guy interested and he's willing to pay any of the prices listed then you should sell it to him, I think it's gonna take a special person to spend that kind of coin so I wouldn't turn away anyone with cash.

Well then we must all be some sort of "special" to spend the kind of coin it takes to restore on of these little guys correctly!!

We might be some kind of special but I also know that nobody here is going to pony up 2k or more for a 169 no matter how nice it is, I was just suggesting he not turn down willing money because he doesn't agree with how the guy may care for it. My grandmother breed dogs for a short period of time and anytime someone would come to buy a puppy she would always find some excuse to not sell them one, in her mind nobody was good enough to own one of her dogs which is why she had 14 of them and they basically ran the house. My point is, don't turn money hoping someone else will come along because you may get stuck with it.

I read that you live near a cub scrapyard. Where in Wi. are you located? I live in Waukesha and am rebuilding a 95E. I might be interested in driving to that scrapyard to see if they have anything I might need and/or want.

Nobody here maybe but I'll bet a collector of IH would. Big tractor guys have the money. If a person doesn't need the money from selling it,and if you know the person abuses their stuff I don't have a problem waiting.

It's in Jefferson county but I would have to introduce you...he is SUPER nice as it's private property but it's not far from a scary movie.....always appears out of a junkpile in some greasy coveralls, looks like a huge Viking, but couldn't be nicer to deal with...be literally has 10-15 acres of everything you can imagine.....5' high, and he loves a trade....he has all makes, (except for a bolens ht-23 I want) ....even stuff from Europe...like fully hydraulic articulated diesels from the 80s...built like tanks...one is a holder and some from Spain....I bet he has over 700 garden tractors!!!! Trailers big tractors, trucks, chainsaws, I mean I can't even begin...he scraped 2.5 tons of trimmers!!!!! You know what 2.5tons of weedeaters looks like!!!!!???

I agree Tim...it's not that SO much...just hard to part with something you out so much time into....if I did it to sell it would be one thing....

He has every size and make of small diesel... Lombardinis, Kubota yanmars, hatz dieters....air compressors, tires....it's just crazy....Everytime I go I get in trouble cuz I come home with a LOAD.....

Mike, the Tri-State Small Engine Show in Portland, IN in August might be a great place for you to bring your 169 for sale. Money flows quite well there and they have more than you could see in 3 days of looking. I met fellas there this weekend from Wisconsin, Kentucky, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and of course, Indiana. You definitely have a very nice 169 there that is a labor of love. I've seen people ask $1200 for a 169 there before in no where close to the condition that yours is in. Of course asking and getting are two different things....but I would say yours is in the neighborhood of $2000-$2500. Regardless of the price tag and whether it sells or not, you did a damn good job on it!
