I picked this up the other day at an auction, Simplicity 7116 with a sickle bar mower and a 48 inch mower deck.
It has a 3 point hitch, so maybe next plow day I will bring it along.

Put in carb kit and some new deck bearings, hydro has a little creep, but otherwise runs great.

I may keep it but the sickle bar mower is for sale.

Nice Sovereign! Make sure the bevel gear box has enough oil in it. :beerchug:

Orange you glad I already checked it.!
I just finished cutting the grass and now doing fluid changes as we type.

Awesome! I have had to rebuild countless bevel gear boxes. Oil levels would get low, the front needle bearing would disintegrate causing extensive AND expensive damage to gears and bearings.:beerchug:

Have you checked the axle tube for cracks? It usually happens near the differential hub.

Great yob Lew looks like you grabbed a Halloween tractor! Hope the spooky bevel gear box doesn’t have any gremlins in it. :biggrin2:

If I didn't have so many Cubs...I would have a few Sovereigns...They are great tractors! I would love to have another 75th Anniversary Sovereign.

Yes they are good looking too!
I always liked the pin striping on the one I had.

Thanks Alvy,
All is well, need a new hydro pump drive belt though, but I may have one.

Gilly,
My light saber is bigger.

It's not the size of your saber, it's how you wave it!

Hey that's a nice pick up, Lew! No, not a truck. I just removed the balance gears in my friends Landloard 7112. They are pretty cool garden tractor, and with the rear pan in which it tips back to inspect the rear end is cool, along with the auto motive front wheel bearings. He got two manuals with his, which covers this model.

I almost bought one of them in 92. If it wasn't the same model, it was close. But I bought my first and only new mower that year, my Cub Cadet 1330. And yes, I could put a battery in it tomorrow and cut grass...
Is it odd with the discharge shoot on the opposite side? Kinda throw off your rhythm I would think.:bigthink:

J-Mech 10-23-2017 12:11 AM

Nice tractor Lew!

Other brands are fun to find and flip. I just can't do it with Cubs. Every time I get one I think I can flip, I keep it.:BlahBlah::BlahBlah:

Got my eye on one. Gonna pay bills in the morning and see if I should go get it or not. Lew price. You would drool..... it's nice. :biggrin2:

I think the LH discharge is for left handed individuals, and yes I kept looking on the right side.

The 1330 is a cute little mower for Nancy. Musta took a loooooong time to cut with though.

I drool when I am not excited, hopefully it is a 1330.

Nice find Lew! :beerchug:

Dirty Steve 10-23-2017 03:13 PM

Congrats on the Orange one!!:beerchug:

darkminion_17 10-23-2017 07:34 PM

Thank you boyz, apparently Simplicity did away with the drain on the bevel pinion gearbox cover, so I has to use the my big syringe to evacuate the old oil.
We have a lot of those syringes up here washing up on the beaches, so I had no problem finding one.

:biggrin2: yeah, no. That's what I used to cut all the lawn with back in the old days. Little better than 7 hours.:bash2:
Only tractor I could get on without help. Still is...
