If he gets out based on good behavior then we'll never see him.:biggrin2:

drglinski 12-14-2017 05:29 PM

I'm sure he's off offending someone else somewhere.

athomas 12-14-2017 05:59 PM

Hope he's ok , he's the only sensitive person on this forum !:biggrin2:

sir_lancealot 12-15-2017 02:18 PM

You could ask the site admin, but I hear he doesn't respond to any form of communication.

The site admin not only allowed his bullying behavior but enabled it.

Like him or not, Jon is a wealth of knowledge even though his delivery of said knowledge isn't always the most polished. Merry Christmas Jon! :beerchug:

athomas 12-15-2017 03:30 PM

There were many times when it was beyond "straight and to the point".

Try answering the same simple question a couple of thousand times and see if you are as cordial on the 2000th one as you were on the first one.
I doubt it.

Now I know how the Temptations felt when they got rid of David Ruffin.

I am astonished this thread has been allowed to flourish beyond three comments, WOW.

I love you man, hoping you are back sooner rather than later :biggrin2:

Merk 12-15-2017 05:14 PM

Jon is a wealth of knowledge and is missed. I miss Jon's post.

For those who think Jon is a bully.... Grow up!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't see any bullying in Jon's post.

Terry C. post is spot on. Worth posting again. Here it is:

samckit and bill682- just how old are you????

How would you handle this?????
You are ask the same question and over and over or get someone that starts several topics on the same problem and they won't listen to your suggestions.

I've use to be a moderator of this site. It is not an easy job.

samckit and bill682-there is no one forcing you to be on this site.

If you're bored with the question than don't answer. No need to put a member down for asking, especially a new member.

Especially when you are a moderator! of whom is an appointed representative of the forum.
:bigthink:

But hey, some people refuse to see it that way and would rather call you out and ask "how old are you" or "grow up" etc.

Those types are the ones that enable the unprofessional behavior to continue.

Which is a :beatdeadhorse: issue that has been dealt with several times unsuccessfully or unwillingly.

this post and perhaps the entire thread will go poof in one, two, three.........

Terry C 12-15-2017 08:11 PM

Wow to listen to the J bashers you would think every post he made was offfensive.
Tons of people got FREE help from him.
You J bashers going to start pitching in and help people now? Or just keep complaining.
He was here everyday solving problems. I know cause I’m here everyday.

This thread has no point now. And to delete a thread you have to count backwards, three.., two.. :bash2:

drglinski 12-15-2017 08:18 PM

Looks like a good time for a lock or a deletion.

bill682 12-15-2017 08:22 PM

I thought it's been a good discussion, no one has been out of line.

Merk 12-15-2017 08:24 PM

samckit, bill682 and double07-

I've been a member of this site since 2009.

Over the years this site has had several members who asked the same question over and over or they start several topics on the same problem and they won't listen to your or other members suggestions. It usually gets to the point where there is a huge argument because the original poster won't listen.

Do you ignore the topic or do correct the problem before it is out of hand???

Part of being a moderator is keeping the site under control. The moderator should have respect from the membership. Not seeing that out of few of the posts.

Just a reminder- there is no one forcing you or me to be on this site.

jimbob200521 12-15-2017 08:26 PM

Been biting my tongue but a long week (and 7 days more before a reprieve ahead) so the good drink is probably speaking :biggrin2:

Long and short; J-Mech is a good guy, I've met him, we've talked in person and on the phone, etc. He is also a HUGE wealth of knowledge that I wish I had half of. That being said, he's not shy about what he says, more of us should lean that way honestly. Anywho, is he right 100% of the time about 100% of things? No. But, are you? He is right well more often than not and again, more often than not, people argue with him about simple things that shouldn't really be up for debate. I would probably be the same as him if I were in his shoes as I'm sure more of us than we'd like to admit would be.

TL:DR: Smart guy, wealth of knowledge, a bit short in the social graces aspect of things online. Great guy overall. Here's to hoping we hear from him again soon. :beerchug:

TIMCRUTCHER 12-15-2017 09:11 PM

Wow! My most popular thread. Seems to generate more conversation than the threads about the amazing tractors I've built.

Jon has been a wealth of information for me. He has always welcomed my calls and helped me.

He is not the best at communication with tact. Having said that, this site will lose a lot of knowledge with the loss of Jon's in put.

We do seem to have gained a lot of snowflakes that can't or won't accept a fact or correction w/o crying " I'm offended". Roland had a tough choice and he made it. I respect his decision and appreciate his time and money invested in this site. We will see how everything works out.

I did hear a rumor x-mac (not mentioning names) wanted to limit the number of moderators in order to enhance the annual moderator's meeting in the Bahamas.

I think this should serve as a "wake up" call to all members about just how our annual membership fees are being spent.

bill682 12-15-2017 10:01 PM

I'm sure, behind the scenes drama.
One think I know is don't trust anyone on the internet. Do not be naive.
I have never become friends with someone I've never met in person.
I read one of the founders of facebook said that social media is destroying mankind. It's not hard to believe.

CubDieselFan 12-15-2017 10:08 PM

I have friends here that I have never met. I have had 2 members send me parts, for free, with free shipping. I do not consider this social media. Just my .02.

Jonathan will be missed. I hope he reconsider's, and comes back.

Rescue11 12-15-2017 10:36 PM

Jimbob, Terry, Merk, Todd, Tim, others... Good points made.

Jon isn't PC, he's a deplorable, black and white, wake up dumbdumb, individual that, in his own way contributed more than 95% of total members of this site combined! Why are people such pussys about their feeling's? I don't get it, feelings aren't worth having and certainly don't have a place in any type of mechanical work, it's about getting the job done and going home at the end of the day. You build something un-safe or do something that will result in bodily injury, you need to be told about it. Not just him but anyone commenting could save a doctor bill, ride in the bandaid bus, or the hearse. If the delivery offends you, suck it up and drive on, it's the difference between a boy and a man (no offense Delta Cub).

I mean really, peeps gonna talk shit because he wasn't PC..... FFS!!

Edit: nebraska had a not PC coach that won games and we couldn't handle it, so we got a "nice guy" and had the worse season since 1958. Nice guys finish last

zippy1 12-15-2017 11:58 PM

Well, never thought this thread would end up four pages long.
BUT seeing everyone is jumping in, why not. I hope this thread don't close, like every other one that has disagreements.
If some would do a little "searching", most questions can be answered. But it seems that most with a question wants instant results. Myself, and many others, and Jon didn't have interweb for "instant results" when we were having tractor issues. We had to dive in and figure out the issue. Or as in my case, learn from my uncle, with hands on research.
Jon, speaking for myself, not him, wasn't into babysitting. If you had tried everything you knew, and did some research, and still came up without a fix, he'd be happy to help. But most issues can be solved by searching the archives. OCC, has one, if not the best archives on the net. (don't know if those are the right words, but you know what I'm talking about)
Then, whoever said you can't be friends with someone you haven't met. Where did you get that idea? I've had some pretty shitty times in my life here on OCC, and this group reached out, and helped out in ways I can't explain in words.
And Jon was a big help in a couple of those times. Phone calls, texting, emails... So YES, you can be friends without meeting.:bash2:
And yes, some of us are cut from the same cloth, and we stick together. If there was something he (Jon) said, and it hurt your feelings, or you thought it wrong, push the back button, and move along. It's not like he was up in your grill, and you couldn't get away.
And as far as his contributions to OCC, ain't seen none better. He's forgot more than most naysayers will ever know. But he rarely forgets anything.
OCC's loss, is someone else's gain. Hope things can work out with the higher up's, time will tell...
Jeez, feels like we're going to be digging a hole, and chucking him in.:biggrin2:
No proof reading here, just what I feel.:beerchug:

OldSkull 12-16-2017 12:16 AM

I just wrote to Jon 3 days ago and was surprise nobody comment about him been missing since last week, he give a lot here even when he was in a very dark period of his life, I appreciate people like him because no matter how hard the life hit them they get up and are there if you need help. Yes he is the kind of guy who may hit you like a cannonball but if your smart enough to read between the line and make fun of it instead of crying like a drama queen you may find out how helpful and smart he his.

PS: Only 9 days before Christmas! :beerchug:

PPS: Well said Todd!

Vrobert 12-16-2017 01:06 AM

Honestly, if the FAQ included a disclaimer that OCC had a pet troll that was harmless and served several useful purposes, people would have been less likely to venture to the "friendliest tractor forum". I was tempted more than once.

johncub7172 12-16-2017 01:12 AM

Well, I guess I will miss the guy! Even though he and I started off on the wrong foot, I came to understand him, and he could understand me. I will say we are friends.

I recall a guy building a unsafe contraption using a cherry picker as some sort of truck engine removal tool. The picker was fastened to the front of the 127? Jon told the guy straight up, its a unsafe pile of junk. I give Jon credit for that as he could have saved a serious injury or death.

drcjv 12-16-2017 09:21 AM

Well, there are a lot of opinions in this thread, and we all know opinions are like A__holes, we all have one, so here is mine. There is no denying that Jon has more knowledge about tractors and equipment than a lot of us and that his knowledge helped others. The problem as I see it, was in the delivery. Jon is a moderator. I would assume that means he does know more and that is why he is here. Understand I am no snowflake I am a first class passenger on the Trump train that is running over political correctness. This is not about being PC . It is about treating people with respect. If a teacher, parent , boss, coach or moderator can't perform their duties as such without belittling people than they should not be in that position period. You don't get respect if you don't give it. All the people saying it is ok I would dare to say you would not put up with the same treatment from your wife's or kid's teacher , boss or coach. Being in a position of authority not only requires a greater level of knowledge but also a maturity and patience to deliver that knowledge effectively. Offending people is not effective. This issue is not new it has been here since I joined years ago. I am a member of multiple other forums on multiple subjects and have never seen anything like it on any of them. I will end on this note compare Jon's methods to one of our other moderators who has a fondness for the cyclops tractors. Night and day difference.

dodge trucker 12-16-2017 09:22 AM

Yeah it's weird coming here and not seeing a bunch of posts by him........
What's up?

I too have met him in person, before that he seemed a little rough but since then, he hasn't really jumped me on here like he did a couple of times before that.
And I know sometimes I read some of my old posts and think oh jeez I wrote that? Things that, at the time that I posted, seemed just fine

johncub7172 12-16-2017 09:49 AM

drcjv- Yes, there is truth in your statement. That sometimes upset me, because I am grown up, and when Jon would crack back at someone with a sharp response I wondered how many more times he would put himself in that same positon.
