Hello

Hello all, nice to have a site to turn to. I currently do not own a cub cadet but i have been looking for one recently. I live in New York so it would be nice to have a snow blower, mower, and rototiller option. I just have some questions about what attachments will fit on what tractor. I know the difference between the narrow and wide frames but still looking for information. Like currently I have seen a model 2 tiller attachment for sale but will that fit a narrow or wide frame tractor or does it not matter for the rear? This will decide which tractor to pursues, feedback is appreciated.

Hi! Welcome to OCC!

Most likely your going to need a hydro drive garden tractor with hydraulic lift for tiller work. An all-gear drive with a drive reduction gear box and optional spring assist, or hydraulic lift is the old option. Both will work, just a matter of which tractor is in the best mechanical condition, when your time comes to purchase.

Jump in, check out the many forums,...the folks here are great and willing to help like no body's business!

Alright so I'll jump on the tiller and scout for a hydro lift tractor for it! I appreciate the response, I just wasn't sure if narrow or wide frame mattered for the tiller attachment.

Welcome to the forum ! I'm sure you'll find the answers you need on the site, I personally prefer the wide frame hydro's ! but any of the old cubs are up to the task !:beerchug:

I did find a nicer running 1200 for $200, sound like a good deal? Would it still run my tiller and what not without any issues?

A Quiet Line model 1200 is a 12hp K301 AQS engine with electric pto, and a gear drive transmission. To operate a snow thrower/blower for the 1200 model, the first requirement should be a creeper gear. This garden tractor also has a manual implement lift handle. For me, a manual lift is not hard for me to operate, being 41 years of age and in great health ( knock on wood :biggrin2: ) . An electric lift, hydraulic lift, spring assist are options that's going to aid in the implement lifting action.

Please research the Quiet Line models first. There is a huge cash of information about them. Member Deltacub whom considered by many, to be a qualified expert on these models. Do check in at the CCC/MTD section of the forum. Many hydrostatic models with ported pump and hydraulic lift might be what you are aiming for. Such model would be a 1211, or a Cyclops Super.

Going to throw in a IH model 123, and 125 as other great options , as well as the 129 and 149 series of garden tractors as well. Other members can fill you in better than I. But a $200 1200 might be a great buy not to pass up. You will find having designated tractors set up with specific equipment is a easy way to not need to switch out implements for various tasks. If you can post pictures and detailed information about the model 1200 and post it in the "what's It Worth" section of the forum!

I would look for a 129, 149 or 169, all three are wide frame hydro and can have hydraulic lift. The wide frame tractors are easier to work on than the narrow frames and the hydraulic lift is a nice addition. Welcome to OCC, good luck with your purchase!:beerchug:

Hi Marko....welcome to the forum.

You've gotten some good advice and you're on the right track looking for a maintainable, sturdy old cub to do snow duty with.

Make yourself at home!

Might end up with an 1864, wheel weights, chains, 2 stage blower all ready to go. Still need to find a tiller though.

1864 is a nice machine.

Welcome aboard Marko. There are many good options/combos available to do your chores. I'll agree that the 129, 149, 169 series Cubs are a great way to get into the hobby and you'll have a good durable tractor with many options. When you spot a tractor or implement you might be interested in let us know and we can help you decide if it is a good choice. You may find that you'll want more than one Cub, most of us have several. (at least!)

If you get an 1864, you cannot put an IH tiller on it unless it has a rear cat 0 3pt, and you buy an adapter to install it. Then, you will only be able to use the #2B tiller.

If it doesn't have 3pt, you will have to buy one, and an adapter OR buy the later model CCC built model 400 tiller.

Both these options are expensive.

I have designed an adapter for the aluminum rear ends so that you can run an IH tiller on them without having to have the cat 0 3pt and the adapter. But you will still have to install a sleeve hitch, and I do not know how that would work on an 1864, as I have not seen it done that I can recall.

I suggest looking for an IH built tractor or at least one with a CI rear end if you want to run a tiller.

Well I guess I'll have to do what you guys suggest and get 2 tractors then! One for tilling and one for the snow. I really do like the older look of those 129 and 149 tractors. And just like you guys have multiple cub cadets my interest was into golf carts before this. My big cart has a 23hp vanguard in it with billet pushrods, huge cam, bigger starter, and rev kit. She hits 45mph with a 25" tire and 7" double a arm lift. It's a remarkable machine.

This and put up a phot or 2, give it a test

4 tractors is really the minimum. One for mowing, one for plowing, one for a snowblower and one for the tiller.:biggrin2:

You also need one for storing stuff on the hood and seat, one just to be in your way, one for "I don't have any immediate plans for it....but it was a deal" and one that leaks oil!:beer2:

When the 100 and 108 are in my shed I always cover the hoods with beach towels and then they get covered in tools, spray cans, pop cans and whatever else I happen to set on them. Last time I got the 100 out it took about 15 minutes to clean all the crap off the hood so I could move it.

Marko141 12-22-2017 03:27 PM

You can never truly have enough of them it seems like.
