Shipping from McMaster
I just ordered some shims from McMaster and their antique website doesn't tell you how much shipping will be. What can i expect for a small order of 50 shims?

They are reasonable. Probably $5-$7
I realize that not dirt cheap but they ship fast |
I've always been happy with McMaster when
it comes to shipping, supper fast and reasonable. |

Yeah, I'll just echo the above. Their shipping is reasonable. But I too get my delivery the next day. I live literally in the middle of nowhere. We literally used to get today's paper, tomorrow. (Like all my childhood.) But I can order from McMaster all the way up to at least 6pm, and have it by 3 the next day. It's great. :beerchug:

The McMaster-Carr warehouse is amazing! It is gigantic and very well organized. I tried dealing with the local Fastenals but when the last counter guy did not know what a carriage bolt was...I shook my head and left. Went online to McMaster ordered everything I needed and the order was here the next day. No complaints with quality.

We all know shipping can be pricey.
McMaster is usually reasonable and I too get orders the next day. HOWEVER, I would like to see the shipping charge estimated prior to finalizing the order. I have ordered from them twice and shipping was reasonable. I just do not like leaving that detail unknown when I make the final click to "OK" an order. :Unknown: |
They have a warehouse 15 minutes from me. Love going there. You could eat off the floors.

Prolly 6 years ago I bought 2 feet of brake lining and 4 tie rod ends all in one order, expecting that I will be paying shipping for one package. When they shipped, the brake lining came from one warehouse and the tie rod ends came from a different warehouse. Yes, they charged individual shipping on two different packages that either one could have easily held everything. Not really a big deal but how am I to know where they warehouse items and it's the kind of thing that left me with the feeling of McMaster-Carr as "last resort" instead of "first choice". Sour grapes for sure, but I will admit that if they don't have it, it probably doesn't exist.

I finally got a receipt from McMaster and they charged me $6.65.

Yup. Have gotten stuff from them next day more than once w/o paying them to"overnight" anything
They are just out of range as far as being able to run up there and pick up"will call" style. They are about an hour and 15 minutes from me. Not worth driving up there for just a few little pieces |
Hi Alfred,
We are working on being able to view shipping charges on our website at the time of the order. From time to time, we ship from different warehouse locations making estimating accurate shipping charges difficult. We collect sales tax in California, Illinois, Ohio, New Jersey, and Georgia. We don't collect sales tax for orders shipping to Florida. Thank you for your feedback. I will pass your comments along.
