Okay I'm torn between two SGT's and don't know which to pick. If you had a choice the 2284, 858hrs with no apparent issues or a 2072 with a 400hr, ch20 repower. I do have a 1872 and 2- 1811's. So I was leaning towards the 2072. Just for the sake of most same parts and wiring. And yes it seems we must have more than one SGT.

I voted for 2284. My main reason was the 60" Haban is hard on the tractor. It is also hard on your back. Prices would help too. If they were close to the same price then I would lean more to the 2284. If the price was right on the older Cub, I would get it and replace the mower deck with a 50c.

2072 all the way. I have a strong dislike for the plastic front ends on them. :beerchug:

I'd keep the 2072 personally, both are nice however. If you decide to part with one of them shoot me a PM. You beat me to that 2284.

Personally I'd go for the 2284, yeah I know the rest will go for the 2072. :biggrin2:

How come you can't have BOTH?????????????????????

Sorry, these are the best(only) pics I have. Ignore the red thing.:biggrin2:

I'd go 2072. Those Haban's are a grass eating machine.:beerchug: Never been on one of those one eyed machines, so basing my vote on how much I like my 1872...

DieselDoctor 04-07-2018 10:54 PM

Tin nose rules, 2072 all the way!

J-Mech 04-07-2018 11:04 PM

Ok..... so I'm confused.

You only want to keep one or the other?
Or the 2072 needs work, or what?
Do you even own the 2072?
Because you just bought the 2284.... like literally just bought it, and now want a poll on whether to keep it?? Why the heck did you buy it if you don't even know if you want it?

I'm not voting. I don't care what you choose, I think it's silly you're asking us what you should do with the tractor you just brought home yesterday. :bash2:

SS5150 04-08-2018 02:05 AM

2284 because of the GT deck.

Or, if you already own both, put the lowest hr engine in the 2072 and the GT deck on the 2072 & sell the 2284 with the 60.

Dirty Steve 04-08-2018 07:21 AM

Not voting. Keep both.

IHCubCadet147 04-08-2018 07:56 AM

If it were me, I would keep both, but if you must get rid of one, I would keep the 2284 because it looks different than the others, but it does make sense to keep the 2072 because it uses the same parts as the others. It's up to you to decide, they are your tractors.

Oak 04-08-2018 08:40 AM

Tough call Clay. Both are great machines. As you know, one has all metal panels but it is hard to beat the ergonomics of a Cyclops machine.

If your wife is wanting you to sell them I would try and make her happy and sell both. I would list each one for around $5,000.00 and then when you don't get any hits just tell her you tried but maybe they will sell in the fall.:biggrin2:

Or you tell her "shut up before I sell you" :biggrin2:

Keeping the 2072:
+Can share many implements your already own.
+Can share many spare parts with your other 72 series.
+All metal front end
+Auxiliary hydraulic
-Many spare parts for the M20 engine are no longer available.
-Use rag joint instead of universal joint drive system
-Gas "Hug"
-The 2072 may need a engine swap in few years.

Keeping the 2284:
+More modern and powerful OHV engine.
+Universal joint drive system
+Adjustable steering
+Cost almost half in gas to operate compare to a M20
-All plastic whippy front end
-No auxiliary hydraulic.
-The 2284 need auxiliary hydraulic to really exploited his full potential

If it was my decision to make, I keep both and sell one of your 1811.

Okay with the votes in it looks like the 2072. Here is what's up with the poll. I was truly on the fence for wanting either SGT. The 2284 I do own picked it up for a deal. My BIL has a 1440 and pictured 2072. I can traded the 2284 for the 2072. Thanks folks for the input.

Your BIL will come out best on that trade with the 2284 being worth twice as much as the 2072 is. :bigthink:

clay1811/44c 04-11-2018 09:09 PM

Well we made the trade this evening. I can now say I use to own a 2284 and now a owner of a 2072 with a CH20 repower.
