ol'George 04-16-2018 07:12 PM

What are wanting to know?
what equipment??

Alvy 04-16-2018 07:14 PM

Welcome. :beer2: The 169 is part of the 1x8 and 1x9 wide frame family but also shares some components with narrow frame Cubs and also quiet lines. What exactly do you need?

Edit: curious George beat me, anyway, what we said

deernutz 04-16-2018 07:26 PM

need to figure how to remove tweezers from shroud around engine. . cleaning out mouse nest lost tweezers...lol wanted to practice on another engine before I really do something stupid.also looking for gas tank.

RLause 04-16-2018 08:23 PM

Try a magnet on the end of a stick.

ol'George 04-16-2018 08:34 PM

Try some Cheese on a mouse trap :biggrin2:
or do it properly and remove the engine, then the shroud, and remove Mickey's home.
While apart check everything for things that might need attention.:beerchug:

deernutz 04-16-2018 08:40 PM

Why didn't I think of that.. thanks. will try tomorrow:beerchug:

deernutz 04-16-2018 08:42 PM

gonna try magnet first..lol

J-Mech 04-16-2018 09:44 PM

Tweezers? :bigthink:

Cub Cadet 123 04-16-2018 09:50 PM

I usually start the engine for a moment with the top and side tins on the engine removed. The fins on the flywheel act like a tornado in the hills!! Stop engine after just a moment and remove any larger pieces that still remain.

is that pieces of tweezers or nest. .lol. still trying how to get in there somehow.

J-Mech 04-17-2018 10:07 PM

Take the engine out and remove the tins. Doesn't take long to get it out. Could have had it out by now....

I second that. It will give a good opportunity to clean up the whole Flywheel Fan area, to ensure good air flow, to keep the engine cool. Check the "fin" area to make sure that is clean also.

I've seen Jon get people fired up before but you really take the cake. His comment wasn't even that bad as far as his comments go. If that's all it took to get you going you must be pretty sensitive. Also, language like that doesn't really fly around here.

deernutz 04-19-2018 08:35 PM

passionate..........tractor was grand ma's from new. looking for help....Not much of a mechanic...Glad he fires up people...I have not been here since 2013...Now I remember why...

Ok. Well for grandma's sake you should pull the engine out and remove the tins so you can clean the fins out really well. That 16hp block will be expensive to replace if it gets ran hot and smokes the bore. I have a 16 here that had plugged fins and the bore got wore so bad from running hot that the block is junk. Where in PA are you located?

deernutz 04-19-2018 09:18 PM

near harrisburg

deernutz 04-19-2018 09:19 PM

Then you need to download the manual. What Jon said was absolutely correct. Guess it's time to nut up or shut up.

olds45512 04-19-2018 09:52 PM

Here's where you can find the manual. I know it might seem intimidating but it's a pretty simple process, the manual covers removal and installation.
