Another oil seal...
 

Well Charles, didn't want you to be the only one with a seal leak.:biggrin2:
Nancy finished up the sweeping today, pulled the 782 into the shop, and it was dripping.:banned:
So took a quick look see, and shure as chit, leaking seal.:bash2: Doesn't show in the picture well, but the engine plate is covered in oil. Oh well, they break, we fix.:beerchug: They ain't new anymore...
This one's going behind the 2372, so it'll be awhile before the engine pull, and repair begins.

Well that stinks Mr. Zippy! Is that an older seal in there or a newer one?

Yep, must be something in the air. I am currently tearing down the 1912 to get to the seal.

Hey I don't want to be left out of the leaky seal club. Just put a new seal in 1864 #2 :biggrin2:

I am also tearing down my new 1863 engine and found it stuffed full of chicken feathers. Maybe it was trying to keep warm? Anyway I pulled the flywheel off and guess what... the seal was hanging there loose.

I had a leaky seal on my K-301 in my 125 last fall. Start it up, pull it out of the shed,close the door and when I turn around, it's smoking worse than a mosquito fogger.

Seal behind the PTO pushed out and was spraying a liberal amount of oil on the muffler.

It's not that difficult of a fix other than the amount of disassembly to get to it.

I have a basket pulley puller I bought from some guy in Pa, if you need to borrow it? :beer2:

It's getting harder for me every year working on these things, but it's part of the "game" I suppose. Seems like everything is harder, and takes longer than it used too.:bigthink: EVERYTHING :bigeyes:

Yeah, I hear ya. I can't do the same as a did 5 years ago. Be thankful that you still can, and accept that it is normal for things to take longer. Prioritize and accept that some things don't have to be done right away. Just do the things that need to be done...right. Relish in the thought that you are smarter and more experienced that days of yester-year.

No doubt about it. It just seems like father time is creeping up faster then he should. But it's been a chitty few months. I still have more ambition than most, that are half my age around here.
It is "funny", not ha/ha, but how the mind says, "Yeah, we can do that, no sweat", then the body says, ":banned:that, ain't happening without pain for the next few days"...:bigthink:

Boy can I relate to the mind says ok but the body says, "do it and you will pay in full" Had to replace a headlamp switch on our IH 1066 tractor yesterday and it took twice as long as it used to. Good luck with your repairs.

I have come to the conclusion, Old age ain't what it's cracked up to be. But on the other hand we are still here and i'm thankful for that.

Good luck with the seal repair. I hate that stuff. Most of my tractors leak something. Indicates where to park them when I am done for the day.

Yeah.. I have a few things that I know if they are dry underneath that just means it's out of oil!:biggrin2::biggrin2:

I can't stand leaks. If anything I own leaks, I'm looking to fix it. Not that I jump on fixing it immediately.... but it gets fixed. My 1050 has a small seep on the creeper. Drives me bonkers. Sat all winter and left a small puddle under it. Checked the oil when I got it out for the season, and if it was 3/8 of an inch below full that was all.... so not a bad leak. My 1811 now has right at 2050 hours on it. Hydraulic valve started leaking. That's getting fixed real soon..... Otherwise that tractor is bone dry. No other leaks.

Yes sir. Nothing bothers me worst, plus you get all the dirt attracted to whatever is leaking. Just a bigger mess...:bash2:

The slacker I've been lately, finally got the 782 in the shop this morning, and got the engine out. Seems it wasn't the flywheel side leaking, :bash2:but the PTO side. Oh well, with the engine out, I can get the leaked oil cleaned up good.
Go pick the seal up in the morning. And get it back together. Should be no more leaking:beerchug:

I got it today. The worst part was getting the engine plate bolts back in. Of course, the back four went in like butter, but the two above the axle, I "always" fight, or fight me.:biggrin2:
SO, I ended up taking the axle off, and they went right in.:bash2: Oh well, everything is back together, and the floor is dry.:beerchug:

I feel better now, the Master of Lew says it "looks good".:biggrin2: Thanks Lew.:beerchug:

No it's not. This one has cracks, but I use one of those cub cadet covers, just took it off for the pictures.

Sold the 56, it was the wrong color red:bigeyes:, so got this 68, a better shade of red.:biggrin2: Did I mention, "I like red?":beerchug:

Yes, I do as well, but I couldn't get the darn bolt started, and wasn't going to be that guy who cross threads em' in.:beerchug:
