Best in class

Yesterday my son and I went to the American Muscle Mustang show at Maple Grove raceway. It is one of if not the largest Mustang show in the country. Over 3000 mustangs and 10,000 people. After my son was in the revving contest we were getting ready to leave and the photographer ran over and told us stick around. Never expected it but I won best in show for my class 2015-2018. over 1/3 of the cars were in this class. Here's a video of him he was nowhere as aggressive as the other contestants. I think the winner hurt his motor and he had to get back to Tennessee. These guys were just sitting there for 30 secs bouncing off the rev limiter not good. We mostly did it to donate to the charity. Make a Wish.

Tell us more about the rev competition. Is it like the burnout competition where nowadays ya don’t win unless ya blow the tires up? They go by tone ? Decibels? I can see this soon will be gotta bust a block to win. Oh nice car

drcjv 06-17-2018 07:15 PM

Thanks for the compliments. The revving competition was supposed to be crowd response, but I think they made it go the way they wanted. The final cars were just sitting there bouncing off the rev limiter for the entire time and I am pretty sure the one guy hurt his motor. Our 99 is loud and my son has wanted to do this for several years so I let him do it only punching up and then getting off. The guys that were in the final all had long tube headers no cats and straight pipe out. He had fun that's all I care about. It's all about being with him. I never thought I would win anything but my car is pretty much one of a kind and a lot of the others kinda look alike with the same mods, stripes ect...not really sure but it looks great on the resume. Next summer we are hoping to go to Mustang week for his 21st birthday.

Congrats Charles!:beerchug:

We used to call the rev limiter the warm up gear in rental cars when I traveled for a living....You'd put that poor rental car in low 1 and hold it to the floor driving down the road for about the first mile or two the whole time the engine was bouncing of the rev limiter and you had heat coming from the heater real fast.:biggrin2:...that kind of activity is probably frowned upon.

Sam I have underwear older than they were. The one handed me the trophy and called me sir. The kid before that got a trophy (about 25) she called him bro. I thought it was funny I don't think of myself as a sir. Or a bro for that matter. Guess I'm just the fat bald guy.

Congrats on your trophy and your butt being pinched, it is usually the other way around.

I agree I have been to a lot of local small shows that you at least think maybe I got a shot, but this is probably the biggest mustang show in the country and the majority are late modals 2015- 2018. The past two years I did not even enter the judging because I never thought I'd be in the running plus we always left early to beat the rush so when the photographer told us to stay I was shocked. So then I thought maybe I was runner up but then they called runner up and it wasn't me. Your right it was pretty awesome. I have also won at Carlisle which is another huge national show but that is based on participant votes no judges and can be swayed by the # of people you know there.

They have a car show on main Street twice a year and all the cars had a cup you could put money in and at the end of the night whoever has the most money is the winner, I've literally seen guy sticking 100 dollar bills in their cup just so they can win a trophy.

Tim I was at a show like that many years ago and my two friends and I sat and watched a guy get up and put money from his pocket into his envelope every 20 minutes or so. We decided to make sure he did not make himself win. So we picked a car we all thought should win and filled it full of cash. He was sure he was going to win but he did not and complained that we stuffed the envelope. The judge told him that was the point to put money in for the car you thought should win and that is what we did. It was for a good cause so we did not mind. It was funny because my friend and I both got trophys too.

Hey if you will drop a hudy in my bowl I'll come out and enter your show:biggrin2::biggrin2:
