Can some one help me identify this one? It’s too far to go and look at in person and I know nothing of the newer ones. Hopefully the pictures post...

looks kinda like an 1862 but I can't tell for sure if theres a power steering cylinder.

darkminion_17 11-29-2018 06:35 PM

A 1541 or a 1862.

R Bedell 11-29-2018 06:37 PM

I have no clue. Maybe Sam Mac will chime in, in that he is the Cyclops Expert.

Gompers 11-29-2018 06:47 PM

Has a M18 or 15 on a regular cyclops GT frame 1541, 1860, 1861, 1862
Has hydraulic lift. 1541, 1861, 1862
Does not have power steering (I don't believe). 1861 or 1541. Basically the same tractor.

If it has power steering, it has to be an 1862.

Some more pictures I didn’t add the first time because I didn’t know if they were going to post.

So basically a regular cyclops?

Gompers 11-29-2018 07:10 PM

Yeah it's definitely a 1541 or 1861. You'll need to look at the model number on the serial number tag to be sure, or possibly if the air cleaner says "Magnum 15" or "Magnum 18" on it.

They are the same tractor in every meaningful way, except the 1541 has a "derated" m18 (which is really just an M18).

Yep. It's a 1990-1992 model.
The 1541 was made in 1990 and 1991 and the 1861 was in 1992 only.

Very good tractors.

Thanks for the help. If it wasn’t five hours round trip I’d buy it for the bill they want for it.

Easily worth that if it runs.

Sam Mac 11-30-2018 06:37 AM

1861 or late 1541 :beerchug:

What’s the giveaway Sam?

I’m not familiar with all the subtleties between the years.

1861 and late 1541's have the Hydro Gear pump. Knob on the tunnel cover for the release.

That's why you're the resident expert! So it could be a late 1541 as well?

R Bedell 11-30-2018 09:04 AM

Ah, the trained eye of the Cyclops Expert comes through.

Early 1541's have the Sundstrand pump, late 1541's have Hydro Gear pumps. Knob on the tunnel at the left rear is the give away for a Hydro Gear.

If the OP can get a pic of the serial model tag we can tell for sure what it is.

I don't like that the heat shield tins on the engine are missing, it may have gotten hot.

That's also the side with the fuel pump and starter, both kinda common problem children on the M18.

But for $100, there's enough good stuff there to make it a buy if I was local and in the market for another project.

darkminion_17 11-30-2018 11:11 AM

The other is the fuel cap.

I asked for a picture of the tag and got this instead. Pretty much sums it up I guess. He has all the manuals and the side covers. Looks like it has never left the town it was bought in.

Just thought I would put it out there for some one else. I know all that have contributed to this thread are way out of range even more so than me but you never know.

Interesting serial number. 816509 is the S/N break between early (1990) and late (1991), so that one is one of the very first "late" 1541s and one of the first 60 or so tractors CCC built in 1991. Must have sat in dealer inventory for a while to not get sold until 1992.
