Estate sale finds, a 100 and a sickle bar mower
2 Attachment(s)
I was actually looking at Vintage stereo equipment they had and these were there in the barn.
The 100 has not nun in 8 years, the mower deck is a 42". It has nice fenders. The sickle bar mower was bought with the 100 when new, it is a 402A and is complete. They got a little wet today and so did I. I got the manuals and also picked up a lighted amp meter for $1. All in all a good day in cub land... |
Awesome scores Lew! I am jealous! :beerchug:
You're kidding, right? All for a buck?
Thanks Martin, I also got the manual for the mower and a new cutter bar also.
The PO's son was there and told me they used it to cut the 2 acres of hay on the property. Cleaned up the edges with a hand scythe, there were two in the barn. Then they put it in a hay wagon and brought it to his friends house who had horsies to feed. |

Awesome find Lew!! :beerchug:
That will be a sweet combination, I've never first hand ran one with a sickle bar.
Lew, if I said "YOU SUCK", would it sound like I was being petty or jealous?:biggrin2:
I still think we need to have a thread titled deal of the week. |
Thanks Jay,

Pretty much, and then some...

Really would have liked to have seen the look on your face Lew when you opened the barn and saw the sickle bar mower. Did you have trouble controlling your excitement or are you a seasoned pro and kept your cool? I vote for seasoned pro while inside is screaming yes yes yes!
Cool as a cucumber Doc, cool as a cucumber...
Awesome find Lew.
A certified Lew Deal! |

Thanks guys,
Today I unloaded it and took some more pictures. Tank is clean, and the fuel was shut off so I may get lucky, we will see. I seem to be missing the big spring on the haban, but I am sure we have one here to replace it. |
new find
George, When you are in your 80's, Good days are hard to come by.
Great score as usual ! :beerchug:
Yeah, I prolly sell it as a package, I did not need another, but IIWIS
Only you Lou! Very nice! Did get any good HiFi stuff too?:bigthink:
Very nice, anytime you can come home with a Haban sickle and a clean 100 is a good day. Shouldn’t take long to get operable.
Awesome find as always Mr. Lew.:beerchug:
Yep. Jealousy all around.

Yes I did, thanks for timely shipping, 682 is running leak free again, thanks!
Looks like you did good with the 100 and sickle mower. Obviously, your priorities were on the Cub Cadet more than HiFi.
Great score once again Uncle Lewy!!! Looks like it might have either been really well taken care of or it got a new coat in its past.....since the hood decals are off, I am guessing a new coat. It has the roundy fenders and some extra belts to boot!! Those Joisey boys have all the luck.....I tell ya!
Maybe you could sell the Haban to someone over seas for Euros.....that would be a real hot pepper for ya! If I was closer, I'd jump at offer to get a 100 in that nice of shape! Cub Cadet 123 |

I pushed the 100 in the shack today. Got up to 58*, warm enough for me, looked over the clutch and the wiring and saw no issues. I removed the carb and opened it up and saw no issues, but I soaked it for a while and put a new kit in it so there would be no issues. I did check the points, and it looks like a new set was installed recently, so I static timed it so I would not have any issues. The only issue I had was I ran out of tissues to blow my nose. Pictures for you, no issues getting them orientated correctly... |
Good day to be home. In the shed.
Sorry Lew, but we can't wish you, had an issue, no need for a tissue.
Yesterday I got a chance to finish up the fuel system on the 100. brought it out in the 60* day we had.
Put a battery in it and it fired right right up even before I let go of the starter. Charges the battery, no leaks, or smoke. Took it for a ride, I am happy. I will have to get a pto belt and a fiber button installed to try out the deck after it stops raining. |
That’s awesome, congrats!
