Well I don't know what you have other than it is a PO mod. The 2182 should have a Haban plow.

93Tim1440 09-06-2019 09:18 PM

I know it should have the 54", and I have no idea what a PO mod is. Wasn't looking for criticism if that's what that is. I was looking for identification help.

Looks like a Simplicity blade.

SS5150 09-06-2019 09:34 PM

Previous Owner modification......that's a plow that someone fabbed up themselves using an IH subframe. I see there's a pulley/ cable lift fabbed up too. Doesn't look bad really....you'll need to assess how durable/well built it is in person though.

It wasn't criticism, it was an observation.

To go along with what Sam stated, it is a NON OEM Dozer blade. Again, it looks like a custom fabrication, thus it is impossible to ID the thing.

I go to see it on Sunday, the owner says it works very well but the shoes are worn. If I don't learn what blade it is I will have to have some fabbed up for it if I buy it.

If I were to switch to the Haban blade, is there anything done to this that isn't reversible?

What would be needed along with the 54" blade, If I were to make it all correct?

Thanks all for your help.

I had no idea what PO was and you do run into wise asses on message boards from time to time. So I apologize for thinking the worst, but in my defense, the poster could have been clearer, I am not up on all your shorthand.

So if you will let it go, and give me a clean slate I will be more patient and ask before I assume something is bad in the future. Mea Culpa.

R Bedell 09-06-2019 10:12 PM

PO = Previous Owner

IF.....the blade is well fabricated, then there is no point in changing it out.

93Tim1440 09-06-2019 10:39 PM

PO. Yes, SS5150 covered that for me in the post above. Thank you.

As far as if I decide to replace it. it will be a matter of how well it is done and personal satisfaction and desire. Won't be immediately if I decide to buy, but at a future date determined by funds and parts availability.

I just wanted to know what it would take to set it correct...

To put a bow on this attempt for guidance and information gone wrong, I did purchase the tractor today. After it was home I was able to determine through heavy layers of paint that it is a Craftsman blade, and I was successfully able to look up the model of the blade online.

So, part one of my reason for posting I accomplished. Getting new skid shoes for the blade. They were still available. Thankfully.

As for finding out what all is needed to replace the IH bracket, the Sears blade and the homemade lift system with correct Cub Cadet if I so decide and choose, that remains for another day.

If it works well, leave it alone. Congrats on the tractor :beerchug:

Thanks Jeff.

If it aint broke, don't fix it!

Looks really good, congrats on the score.

93Tim1440 09-09-2019 10:14 PM

Thanks, jbrewer

You all who say leave it alone are right, of course. But I restore motorcycles so I have this thing about making everything original. I will have to fight the urge on this to do the same I guess.

This is the snow plow that would be correct for a 2182

Nice tractor, congrats! I attempted to use a 48" blade on my 1863 which worked, but was always running through snow especially when angled. Switched to the 54" and much happier with the performance. Couple inches makes a big difference.:beerchug:

appears like it won't be able to angel it because of the hooks where the springs are on the bottom

The plow angles just fine. The springs don't interfere with anything.

Would there be any need for an additional hydraulic lift assembly kit for this plow?

You won't need anything extra to lift or lower the blade that works off your tractor deck lift. If you want power angle you'll need front hydraulics.

Go to the Cub site.
https://www.cubcadet.com/en_US/operatorsmanuals
Type in 190-401-100 for the model # and download the operators manual

Thanks for the info, Sam.

Here is a guy on FB selling a Haban plow. Price sounds high but it does have the power angle.

Haban Plow 190-401-100 Connection Question

Hello .. first post regarding a new to me 2284 with a Haban 190-401-100 hydro plow (has the optional 190-378-100 kit). So my son and I changed the rear hydro fluid upon receiving the tractor and haven't yet hooked up the plow, but one thing we did notice which was the lever that operates the front hydraulics does not move up or down (seems stuck). I have 2 questions 1) is that normal and will resolve itself once the hydraulic lines are connected out front and 2) should we in some way "purge" the plow lines of any old fluid (plow was sitting for some time) before connecting it? Many Thanks !

They tend to stick if they have not been used in a while. Try something like power blaster on the spool where it enters and exits the valve body. Then you can tap the spool on the opposite end of the lever.

emdcubfan 11-25-2019 10:24 PM

Thanks Sam.

Will give that a try.

Any thoughts on purging out old fluid on the plow itself?

Really enjoy (and appreciate) the great advice on this site !!
