149 engine
Having trouble trying to find the Kohler number for a short block that fits my 149. I have found a new Kohler short block, but can’t seem to find if the number 4752255 is the correct engine. I know they mace several versions for different makes. Hope someone known more than I do here. Thanks

Is the original engine re-buildable?
|
It should be able to be rebuilt. Just smokes and has the Kohler rattle. Was hoping to get a spare one
|
The 149 rolled out of the Factory with K321-60226. The Short Block for that engine was 77-522-46, which is NLA from Kohler. You may find it on the internet, as left over or NOS inventory.

Any idea what that 4752255 fits?

Thank you! I couldn’t come up with it. Guy wants $800
|
Can that be used in a cub 149? I know the block is different on the oil pan area

I had a 210, and a 212, they both had oil pans like the Cub Cadets but the pto shaft end is different I believe.
Here is a pic of a replacement engine from the parts manual. |
I agree. The deere and cub have different part numbers for the crankshaft.
deere =45 14 222s cub = 45 14 225s (nla) |
$800 would rebuild TWO of the 149's

I have a local guy who can rebuild mine. What do you all use for the piston, rod, valves. Are the original Kohler parts better?

Some on this forum have used kits from this guy on eBay with good results....
