My 70
3 Attachment(s)
When I was a kid my dad bought a new 70 in 1964. I decided it was time that I got one for myself. Recently picked this one up over in West Central Illinois. I am thoroughly enjoying the process of refurbishing it. I am the kid sitting on the fender.

Nice, what a great old photo and tie-in to your "new" Cub. Look forward to your progress.

Have the mower pretty well stripped down, next step sand blasting and paint. That will be subject to the weather which means it will be awhile before I get around to that. As I took it apart I made a detailed record of the order of the dismantling and bagged all the hardware individually. Today I chased all the threads on the bolts and nuts and wire brushed them. I will start working on the engine next.

You are doing a great job of organizing the parts. I cannot wait till it is finished.

Got some paint
1 Attachment(s)
It has been 22 years since I last painted an antique tractor, I got a little sticker shock today when I picked up some paint. What is pictured cost me $202.00. I still have to get primer, I priced the primer I wished to use was a non sanding primer and it was $155.00 a gallon could not get it in qts. the catalyst was $50.00 per qt. and the ratio was 1 to 1. I cannot imagine it taking more than 1 gallon mixed to prime a 70. I knew paint was pricey but.................

Good grief!
How many tractors are you going to paint?? |

The obvious solution to having too much paint is to buy another tractor that needs it.
When you're all done, it would be cool to post a pic of you sitting on the fender now beside the original. Have fun!! |
