2166 seat switch

I cant figure out how to get that SOB out. I removed the spade connectors and depress the plastic levers and it still won't come out. Looked at tons of youtubes but none show this particular switch clearly.

R Bedell 11-03-2022 11:47 AM

Is the switch you are trying to get out, bad ???

Wayne 11-03-2022 11:53 AM

Yes. How does it come out?

You have to twist it and depress the 3 locking pins.

Thanks. I already tried that...and promptly broke off the thumb tab used for rotating it. Ha. But at least I know I was on the right track

Sucker won't budge

Is there a reason you just can't break it out, since it is bad already??

:HeadScratch:

Sam Mac 11-04-2022 02:22 PM

Probably rusted on the back side of the seat. Time for the hammer.

Wayne 11-05-2022 10:41 AM

I'm just going to bypass it for now, I need to move the tractor today before it snows. Do I just connect the 2 wires to each other to effect a bypass?

Do to the potential liability we can not advise you how to by-pass any of the safety devices. You can thank the lawyers. That said this is the wiring diagram for the 2166.:biggrin2:

Wayne 11-05-2022 01:32 PM

Well I can't read schematics but it won't cause any liability if you tell me my guess 2 posts above is wrong. You don't have to tell me its right.

Sam Mac 11-05-2022 05:09 PM

Well it looks like the contacts on the seat switch are closed until you sit on the seat and then they open.

If it's in your way pull the trans release on the back of the hitch and push or pull it.

I think you are correct.

I know nothing about a 2166, but my 2180 seat switch is closed until I sit on it.
Frankly, it is opposite the logic I expected, but that is what I found.

To bypass it, all I need to do is unplug it. No jumper needed.

Yeah its hard to pull a tractor and trailer by hand though. I need to get it running https://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/...ad.php?t=60620

Do you think the seat switch and starting issue are related? Just a thought.

No I don't think so. I'm 99.999% sure the seat switch is not involved.

Do you know where I can find a legible copy of this diagram?

Sam Mac 11-25-2022 07:24 PM

I sent it to your e-mail.

Thanks! I was puzzling over the 6th terminal on my ignition which is not part of the harness plug and it appears to be for the headlights

Sam Mac 11-26-2022 06:43 AM

That should be the ground.
