K301A driveshaft connection?

I have a K301A that I was told was good to go. Hopefully that’s true. Im a little confused on the driveshaft end though. I think what I’m looking at is a three pin clutch plate installed backwards? I’m no expert here but wanting to learn. Attachment 111582

Not sure what you have for the there but here is what I believe
was the original. 4 bolts attach the hub of the driveshaft to enginePulley
I have the wrong end of the driveshaft showing with the hub in one
photo but you can see the hub out of tractor.

Just dawned on me that if I went out to the shop and took pics
of todays project it would give a better look. I am a little slow on swing
sometimes.:beerchug

It should look like this....

OK I guess I am completely confused. Is there a difference between
the connections for engine to driveshaft depending what tractor it goes in?
Having never torn a gear drive down I am thinking posters engine came out
of one, I hope.
Sorry if I confused everything up.

Hydro tractors don't have clutches. 3-pin drivers are for clutch/gear drive tractors.
3-pin driver would bolt on (4 bolts) in place of your hub adapter in your pic.

Put a clutch on your 125 hydro and it will be easy to start in the winter.

Thanks for the replies. What little I know about it is that it was gone through by a small engine shop and was going to be used for another project that never happened. At least that’s what I was told. I’m glad to have a mostly complete Kohler K series though. Most people I know don’t get too excited about that but I figured you guys could appreciate it. I got home late tonight but I’m going to look at the backwards clutch plate situation tomorrow. I’d like to find a good deal on a tractor that’s minus an engine sometime. I think it’s safe to assume it came out of a gear drive tractor. If I’m understanding things right it was made in 1969 because the serial number starts with a d? The picture won’t load for some reason but the serial number is DO65045.

Apparently the picture did load.

At least I knew that my 125 didn't have clutch.
Or maybe I just haven't found the peddle yet.
Learn new stuff every day.
Hope you find a donor tractor to go with your engine.

Thanks Ken. I been doing some day dreaming about a donor tractor. From your pictures it looks like the engine could just as easily go in a hydrostatic unit if I used the slotted adapter.

Where are you at in Iowa?
I am 35 miles west of Dubuque if you are ever in the area.
I have several used hydro front couplers as well as new ones if you find a hydro for your engine.
That 3 pin driver is probably just stuck in between the fins on the flywheel for storage.

My situation this summer was just the opposite of yours.
Picked up a 124 with a trashed trans-axle but with decent engine.
Swapped in a good rear end from a 102 w/trashed engine and I will be back up and running soon!

I’m about 40 miles south of Des Moines Des Moines. Good to know another Iowa OCC member!I don’t usually get over your way but I appreciate the offer. Good luck with your 124/102 project. I have a 102 that I use for some mowing and snow pushing. I really like it.
