1950 Farmall Cub
 

I have always wanted a Cub. I finally found one, only about 10 miles from my house, and brought it home Saturday. A friend of a friend of a friend was selling it. It was bought new by a local dairy farm, then the property it’s on was separated and the tractor stayed with it. I drive by there twice everyday, I had no idea it was in the barn. It last ran about 5 years ago, and has been parked inside, so shouldn’t be too hard to get it running. For 72 years old, it’s in pretty good shape. I think most of the paint is original. It came with a bunch of attachments, but I have to wait for the ground to dry up some before I can go back for them, can’t get the trailer close enough to the barn they are in. For now I just got the plow blade and a few parts that were small enough to carry.

Congrats! I grew up on my dad's Cub Lo-Boy, and definitely want one someday.

Great find! That is a very nice old tractor....love all of the attachments too!

Yeah, they would. Unfortunately I don’t have a good place to put a garden big enough to use it in.

Sunday I went and picked up the two plows and reel mowers. I’m planning on getting another load of attachments this weekend. There will be an update coming on the tractor soon too. I just have a few more small things to do then it will be ready to try starting it.

I got the last of the attachments home. 2 spreaders and the disc harrow. He also had this quad and plow in the barn, and said I could take them too. I’ll probably sell them.

I got it running over the weekend! I have been trying to figure out for almost 3 weeks why it had no spark, even with new points, condenser, distributor cap and rotor, spark plugs and wires. Not sure exactly what I did to fix it, but now it has good spark and started right up when I put gas in. It doesn’t smoke too bad, oil pressure seems good. Other than loose steering, it drives great. Great job, that thing sounds good to me. I had a 49 Cub years ago and they are pretty cool little tractors.

Those are some retro rear tires. Nice score with the attachments.

They were nice little truck garden tractors.
but badly lacked power.
Early ones were less than 10 hp, the later ones produced almost 15 H.P.
But they were built with the mindset to replace the horse/mule, and it did.

Thanks. Someone on another forum mentioned the tires looked like they are from a manure spreader. I got one good Firestone ag with it, now I just have to find one to match it.
I think this one is 9 hp. That should be enough for anything I’m going to use it for. I really don’t even need a tractor this size, just wanted one.

You'd be surprised what a Farmall Cub can do. No different than a 12hp CC pushing snow/tilling/mowing.

I went to New Jersey and picked up a grader blade and tire chains yesterday. This blade can be mounted on the front for snow, or in the center for gravel. I got it mounted on the front, but it was too dark to go out and try it. Hopefully we get some snow now so I can try plowing with it. If not, I’ll change it to mid mount and use it to fix the driveway in the spring.
