Rear end swap
Hey anyone know how much work it would be to put the rear end from an 1806 into a 1204? Wondering about the drive shaft hook up and such. I've never messed with a pearless rear end before to know anything about them. Any info would be great, Thanks.

Eric,
I would think if you take the drive shaft, right angle gear box and rearend out, what would be left is just a regular 82 series. I don't know about the clutch though. Does the clutch on the pearless rear tractors disengage the drive shaft or the belt ? You might need to use the clutch hanger and stuff from the 1806 also. If all you took out of the 1806 is the creeper, then I would assume you would have everything but a longer drive shaft. |
Thanks Joe, All I have left is the rear end, the clutch was completely distroyed in the 1806. Something went and it took out pretty much everything else when it did. I don't know about the clutch on the pearless. I'll have to look it up in the parts look up :bash2:. If nothing else I can watch for a clutch set up from a 582 or something. Just thought it migh be a cool up grade, to a 12hp gear drive 82 series. The 1204 is on one of the other boards for a good price, and I have the rear end so might just have to try it.

Eric,
What's with the 1204?? Your super is waiting for you!!! |
Easy project. And a gear drive for Tim!!

Eric, I had a 1204 and the clutch for the peerless is just basically a belt tensioner, similar to the gear drive wheelhorses. If you still have any of the 1806 brackets or linkages, it would be a strait swap if you pull the 90 deg gear box.

If you have this bracket from the 1806, just bolt it on and go..if not...find one, lol :biggrin2: http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o...6/IMAG0072.jpg |
Eric,
If you don't have that brake bracket, I am pretty sure I have at least 3 or 4 of them still on frames up here. You can have one if you need it. |
