Hello from Gresham, Oregon. My wife and I just bought a couple acres outside of town and now need a tractor to keep the grass down. (Sounds like a poem :) ). I grew up not far from here on a couple acres. When I was young I remember the day that our brand new IH 149 arrived. Came with the mower and tiller. I couldnt wait to be old enough/big enough to ride it. When my feet could reach the pedals the chore of mowing the grass became my responsibility. I loved that tractor and I enjoyed the job of mowing our grass. Dad still has the tractor and said I can have it and I am looking forward to seeing what I can do with it. Amazingly it still runs after all the abuse and neglect the poor thing went through. It still looks pretty good though as it was kept inside all these years. The mower deck gave up years ago and unfortunately dad threw it away. Im afraid it will be hard to find a replacement but maybe I will get lucky or can fabricate something. Any suggestions out there?

:Welcome2: Hp3mi!! Great story about growing up on your family's 149. It's nice to see your still keeping it in the family too! There are a few members up in your neck of the woods, so I would bet you could snatch a deck from someone not too far away. Keep your eyes on Craigslist as well, you'd be surprised what might pop up ! :biggrin2:

:IH Logo::Welcome2::IH Logo: That's really cool that you still have the 149 in the family. Hopefully you can find a deck for it. |
Thank you everyone for your responses. I will make updates on my progress with the Cub.
