another A-1 tiller and 123???

I asked last week about my tiller seeming to slip when it's in the ground working. Chatted with Duke thinking the belts may have been to loose, well today had a chance to try it after re-tightening, same thing.
Put the wife on the tractor and watched from the side, well it's actually the PTO that is slipping. Now what? Take it off and rebuild? I've put them together before after buying a tractor that has one in a box. But is this what would happen when the PTO clutch goes bad?
Thanks

Yeah, sounds like is time for a rebuild. I had one that would slip trying to mow grass it was so bad. Not sure about the NF's but I think you can add two springs to the PTO like the WF's have. Those and a new disc and you should be tearing the ground up in no time.

Thanks DX, what do you mean by, "add two springs"

Instead of the single triangle metal spring in the front, two are used. I'll see if I can find a pic.

This is a kit for the wide frames. I don't know you may not be able to double up on the narrow frames. I'll let one of the NF guys speak up about that, but I would think you could.

DX, if you think it will work, I'll pick it up Tues. from my Cub dealer.
Thanks, oh is it (the second spring) just another normal one, but doubled up?

Yes just doubled up, but I am not sure that kit will work. I do believe there is a difference in NF PTO's and WF PTO's. I know that the gauge is different for each. It couldn't hurt to try two and if it doesn't work just take one off and readjust the PTO.

Wide frames kits only work on wide frame PTO's and NF kits work on NF ones...but you could put a complete wide frame PTO on a NF and visa versa. If you want I will post pix if you like.

I can get individual components from my Cub dealer, no need for a complete kit. I have it off, and the disc has a good glaze to it, not good?
Now back to the springs, put them on top of each other, (mirror image) because I don't see how otherwise, being a three spoke, and there only being three openings. Make sense? I hope so, cause I don't know what I just said:beatdeadhorse:

Makes sense... :beerchug:
