sears plow and lift questions

1 Attachment(s)
Got a line on the for a plow and am wondering if I should go ahead and pick it up as its pretty inexpensive.less than 100 and the disk moves free. I have a cub 149 with no hitch at the moment.

I have been looking though ebay and the like for something but unsure exactly what i need and want. I do want no matter what for it to work off the hydro lift if possible.

heres a pic of the plow let me know what you think, its less than 100 bucks!

Looking at your pic, without some modifications, that plow will not work on your 149. The hitch looks to hook to the sears tractor differently, the one for a cub (using a brinly adapter) will have the hitch pin sitting straight up and down, the one on this plow looks to attach side to side. You may be able to get a new hitch for this plow, some of the sponsors carry brinly plow hitches, perhaps you could just change the hitch.

To use a plow behind your 149, you will need a cub sleeve hitch (an oem option from IH), and a brinly adapter. They do make an aftermarket 3 point hitch for the 149, but it is pretty pricey, and 3 point implements are usually higher priced than their brinly adapter counter parts.

the pic is pretty small believe it to be a cell pic but i think it has that pin up in down in center you speak of and that side to side bracket is being held by the pin not sure though... may have to go see it to make sure...

I think you may be right on both both counts (small pic and hitch pin). I think the hitch pin used on cub brinly's is 5/8" diameter, off top of my head I can't remember the length. The side to side mount, must be part of the sears tractor hitch.

Is there a tag on it saying it's a sears? It doesn't look like any other sears cat0 plows I've seen before. It kinda looks home made.:bigthink:

I'm a Sears collector and have never seen one like that. Sears was Cat O until it went Brinly.

yeah it has a tag and I finally found the listing again!! It has the other pics that i've seen before.

I also am/was a Sears collector. I have never seen one of those either. Cant even begin to say what suburban or custom it would go on. When you got into the later models, they made the switch over to the sleeve style hitch. I wonder if someone used parts of one to make another. That style hitch is almost like the ones for an Allis Chalmers or Simplicity. (see link)

There is a Sears tag on it. I haven't tried it. They look like there is more clearance so trash doesn't build up.

Thanks Merk for those pics. Ive never seen one until this thread and now there is 2. Your hitch is brinly style though unlike the OP's craigslist find. Still wondering about that style:bigthink:

Of course anyone could have come through and modified it to fit whatever they needed
