1420 ?

I have a question someone may know the answer to. my 1420 engine shroud has a decal that says magnum 14 but the sticker on the engine case says mv16s. The Kohler service manual lists a 14 hp, but it also says an mv 16 is a 16 hp motor. What is going on here?

The 1420 rolled out of the Factory with a Kohler MV16S - Spec #5609. YUP, it is a 16HP Kohler that was de-tuned and de-rated to 14HP.
