Cub Cadet 1863 Questions....

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and have a couple of questions about maintaining my 1863. It has just over 360 hours on the meter and is in nice condition. I bought it in April of last year with 340 hours on it at the time. I am wanting to do some maintainance to keep it up in top form. I've done the oil changing per the manual, but now I am wanting to do further work, not knowing what was done before I owned it. I am in the process of tuning it up and wonder about the gap on the plugs. The owner's manual gives a CC part number and says to gap at 40 thousandths, but the replacement plugs online and in the store say to gap at 30 thousands. The replacement plug I got was an AC plug RC12YC. Which should I do?

Also, I want to service the Hydrostatic drive. The owner's manual refers to a filler tube to check the fluid levels and for refilling. For the life of me, I can't find it....any ideas about where it is? Or is the book mistaken and it doesn't have a filler/check tube. If that's the case, where/how do I refill it?

Last question, my brother got on the tractor recently and used the deck as a footstep. Unfortunately, the deck was elevated with the hydraulic lift at the time. As I result, the deck is a little lower now on the left than the right (by about an inch). Now I have adjusted the wheels and bottom the deck out when I mow and only lift it when moving it. Can I fix this or is the lift mechanism adjustable and I can readjust it to be even again? I hope he didn't bust it and it can't be leveled again....it was nice mowing with it adjusted, it was velvety smooth.......

Thanks all for any advice and replys.......

I don't remember the exact location of the filler tube but if you look at the rear end you will see a chrome tube coming from the top of the rear end. Just follow that up and I think it is under and behind the seat, should come through the fender pan. Look for a black knob about 2" in diameter, unscrew it and pull it out.

I would set the plugs at the manuals recomendation.

That model has a seat that is adjustable. I think you can move the seat all the way forward and then you will see the tube. I have a 1864 which is the same except power steering and a Sundstrand pump.
