my 169 has the brake style pto. i just rebuilt it with the kit and new bearing but the piece in the picture ( brake, shoe, idk what its called) clanks and rattles around. i think the problem is the little grooves on the clutch itselve that hold this piece from spinning are slopped out. ive got other clutches here on the shelf but there the normal kind with out the break. so should i just put the new pieces on a different clutch or should i try to fix those grooves? or do you think its a different problem? thanks

I think the brake is bad, very hard to tell from the pix.
You could remove it and put on a fiber button in place of the brake.
Maybe post some better pix of your setup.

I can't tell from the pic either , but from what I think I see, the brake
shoe must have a perfectly flat face to meet the brake pad correctly .
If not it will "chew" it up . Can you get us a better pic ? :bigthink:

My 169 was the same way. I liked the old set up that was on the 149 better so i changed to the fiber button style on the 169. I had to change the rockshaft assembly(they are slightly different) but i like this set up so much better.
