Mower Deck protection

OK people . Got the 44" deck blasted / stripped down and primed . Now I'm not
so sure as what I want to do for protection under the mower deck .
It's in pretty good shape and I would like to keep it there . I know this
is
:beatdeadhorse: . but I need to make a move on this real soon .

What would you do for your keeper . :bigthink:

I primed and painted mine, then used that spray on truck bed liner.
It seems to be holding up well.
Just my :TwoCents:

I would put on a good coat of primer and then spray on bedliner.

bed liner under the mower deck? that's the first I've heard of that one...What about the sticking grass issue? It seems you want a smooth surface, I've even read where guys are using marine teflon paint to try and reduce grass sticking.

There is a thread on here of someone doing this and worked out very well!:American Flag 1:

Diz , how long ago did you apply it ?

mmzullo 08-19-2011 07:32 PM

Use slip plate or ez slide. Both are a telfon paint. Works great in the drum and chute of a snow thrower also.

AMCJavelin74 08-19-2011 07:44 PM

I've heard of guys using 'graphite paint' (I think it's something special from ag stores. Ask someone at your local farmers co-op.) on snowthrowers. This stuff might work for mower decks.

With rocks, sand, and even grass whirling around down there, it's a rough environment for any coating.

It certainly is a rough environment for any coating...The best way to protect it IMO is to blow off accumulated grass from the top with an air compressor and remove the deck and scrape away the grass clipping buildup with a putty knife once in awhile. NEVER use water to clean a deck. Avoid mowing wet grass. Just about anything you put on there will wear off anyway.

What about powder coating, has anyone ever tried to do that ?
