782d Project Questions.

I struck a deal tonight on a 782d, I was really excited to get the lead on it tractor but then when I talked to the guy I found out the engine was missing. Bummer. I was able to buy the rest of it, and apparently everything is there except for the engine. Although is does have dual hydro. It has been stored in side and the tins are supposed to be nice. Hopefully I can pick it up in the next week or so.

Now I am looking for a d600 but my question is if anyone has the dimensions on the d600, because if I cant find one for a reasonable price I may try to stuff a kubota d905 I have in it. Hope fully the physical size is close enough that I dont have to hack the heck out of it to fit the bigger engine in.

Any ideas or leads on an engine would be greatly aprreciated.

The physical size is not close on those...I thought about that once, too, it won't fit. The D600 is a tight fit to begin with, and the D905 is 50% larger displacement.

There is one maybe two D600's on Ebay at the moment...

Do the 982s have anymore room under the hood than the 782s. I have a line on a project 982 and was thinking of making it into a diesel. Mainly if there is more room to accapt the d905.

They should have the same engine room. They gain their size in the tunnel cover area. The side panels can be switched from a 782 and 1512.

Same amount of room. The D600 in my SGT really fills it up. The oil dipstick is in such a place that I have to loosen the side panel and pull it outward to check the oil.
