Newcomer with 4 CC's so far..lol..
 

Hi everybody... I am a fairly recent convert to Cub Cadets..Always been into tractors , gone thru the required redbelly Ford phase, into hundred series, then graduated to an IH 454...Never had enough grass to mow until I moved to central Texas from Upstate NY.. then started out with a Murray Hydrostatic that I beat on a regular basis...I picked up several other MTD/Noma mowers , and on a run thru Iowa I decided to join the big boys and I bought a sweet 1200 at a tractor show for about 3 times what I had just spent fixing the steering on the dang NOMA. Holy cow, what a machine it proved out to be! Absolutely no comparison to the junk I have been fighting for years...

Move forward one year, I am trying to clean out the old place in upstate NY, and somone has a 1250 Hydro on the for sale board at the laundry... parts machine...lol. I got it anyway, and have been steadily getting it to function..It was amazing what motor mounts and new rag joints did for the vibration issues.. Hydro still whines at times, I did change the filter and fluid...

Found a neighbor with a partially stripped 1250 for $20 which has been handy for little stuff.. Also picked up a 147 with a seized motor and a good 38 inch deck.. I can see I am already hopelessly addicted.. Now I will need to sell my Simplicity collection to pay for more CUB stuff.. Until I got the hydro going, the Commando 8 Wheel horse was what I used to drag trailers around the yard, the 1250 is far superior altho traction is an issue. Perhaps it is time for some ag tires...Are narrow better than wider? I have both the 8 and 7 inch rims to use..

I'm in the process of rebuilding a 44 inch deck so I can do some mowing with it, had to send parts off it to my buddy in Texas to fix a broken idler setup he had on the 1200..But thanks to Ebay I have most of what it needed on the way.

Anyhow I'm glad to finally be registered here..

I guess one could not appreciate heaven until experiencing hell. And one will never know what a piece of junk their shiny new riding lawn mower is until they get on an IH Cub Cadet garden tractor. Welcome to the forum Sir.

Well let me tell you I know where U are coming from.
I have a 106 I mow my grass with. That machine replaced a 3 year old Snapper zero turn mower.
I paid $4200 for the Snapper. $150 6 aspirin and a sediment bowl for 11 bucks for the 106.
The old timer cuts a nice carpet no digging up the turf on the turns and on the hillside.
The guy next door with the high priced Gravely asked me if I was nuts.
I told him not anymore.:biggrin2.gif:
