I vote for the 2072! It even has a cup holder! :biggrin2: The JD has too many curves for my liking. Ill take straight heavy steel any day over styling.

BUT, the devils advocate:

I own a 1872, I mowed with a 14hp 108 for years,

Now the BUT,

The John Deeres in general have a higher tip speed mower deck.

The JDs therefore do a little nicer job of cutting grass in tough conditions.

That is according to the admission by my Cub Cadet dealer, that works on both.

Hm .................nothin that a pulley swap wouldn't fix ! :biggrin2:

How bout the 2 speed rear end in the 400. Makes for a nice quick get away!

One major down fall the 400 has though, is that of all the other JDs thats out their, ONLY attachments that were made for a 400 will fit. Nothing else will interchange so that can be a pain when in need for tiller, snow blower, front blade etc...

I wouldnt kick either one of those fine machines out of my stable though. :beerchug:

There are just some things a Deere can do that a Cub Cadet can not do!!
