Hey guys! Im New with CubCadets so i'll sure take any tricks I can get! My 126 I won at a Auction a few weeks back has a busted Rod, I've been reading how the rods keep cracking. Im sure some of it is the Cranks are egg shaped not nice n round. then Low or old Oil.
What type of Rod do the pullers use?
I would like to find one that is Steel not Aluminum.

I wish the Engine was like a Farmall Cubs.

Thanks!

I am not sure where you are reading that, but I don't think rods busting are very common with Kohlers. I have a half dozen cubs that are anywhere from 30 to 50 years old and only one has had a mechanical issue. Kohlers are pretty dang tough and built to last.

Start with getting manuals for your cub, most are all here and you could just download them. If you want paper we have sponsors right here on the sight that sell those as well.

Do some reading and studying first to figure out what questions to ask, then fire away. Very friendly and knowledgeable people here.

He may be thinking of the KT seriesI engines. They are known to be real block busters!

Looking at that eng, its not the right eng. When you rebuild it take them balance gears out or youll end up with positive ventalation in the block!

Just my :TwoCents:

If its not the Right engine then whats the right one?

balance gear! I was thinking it was broke too soo took it out of the engine, Get to looking at it its not broke! I even took a look at the manuals and its showing the gear like that. Now whats wrong with the balance gears? Why do some people take them out?

Theres realy nothing wrong with the ballance gears, except the wear and ome off the shaft and threw your block. They started putting them in around the time of the 108 149 or wide frame tractors. On the 12 hp you can pull them out with out tearing the eng down, your case.... well you you know your going o rebuild it any way. The balance gear looks like its broke in half, but its made that way. Ive had guys tell me that their eng needs rebuilt cause it was knocking like heck, I pull the pan, wiggle the ballance gears, pull them out chec the rod cap, slap it back togeather and no more knock.

Ive run the 14 hp up to 4500 rpms wih no problem and no balacne gears. I dont see anymore vibration with or with out. Im sure the engineers have a reason for them being in there, I still take them out and on eng rebuilds, I dont reinstal them for people. Youll see my finger pointing to the balance gear.

That is the only reason I said its the wrong eng, now it could have been replaced with the black eng, lots of 12 were dont that way as they had problems, Ive heard.

I dont know if I have a pic of what the corect eng should look like, but eather way as long as it runs works and your happy with it, I am too. See I spend most of my time running from the corect police !!!!!!!!!!!!
