is it true about the 982 ccc
 

I was wondering is it true that the CCC 982's have a black front & back axle's & the IH 982's have red axle's. I'm just wondering because I'm restoring my Jan. of 1981 982 and just was wondering what would be correct

That would be correct along with a black steering pedestal.

Red axle and red rear would be correct for any IH built red tractor. Even the 3pt was red. After CCC was formed, things got kind of weird. CCC used the left over red parts on their early tractors. There must have been a lot of left over 982 parts because my 1983 982 still has a red cast rear end in it. I think CCC went to black on the front axle pretty quick though. Most of them are black.

There is not any black on my January 1981 built 982. Axles and rear lift are all red.

mine is built in jan.1981 too. cool :biggrin2:
