Installing Q42A on 1811
Hey everybody! Just recently joined the Cub Cadet owners with the purchase of a 1811 a couple months ago that I plan on fully restoring this spring. I figured I would give it a try and buy the snow thrower this winter as I was told they do really well clearing driveways. I was having a difficult time finding a 450 snow blower for sale due to the bad timing so I purchased a Q42A to hold me over for now. I was able to get the snow thrower mounted but noticed the drive pulley for the thrower is a few inches off from the alignment to the engine pulley. Has anybody completed one of these installs? How'd you go about doing it and are there parts I can buy to swap out or will it require straight modifying? Thanks!

The QA42A snowthrower was NEVER designed for the 1811. The more appropriate model would have been a QA42B.
You will have to change two things to make this snowthrower work for your application. One, is change the Drive Pulley to a 5/8" width (IH-78055-C1). Two, the Top Links (IH-79011-C1) will need to be changed so the tractor side panels won't interfere. In addition, picture(s) of what setup looks like would be most helpful. |
I mounted a qa42a on my 1806 one year. Did the pulley swap and made the curved upper links. I was never happy with the performance of it.
Save yourself the headache , sell the qa4a, save the money you would spend on making it work and buy a (450) two-stage blower for it. |
