Cat-0 for my 582 (finally...)
5 Attachment(s)
After having it designed for 5 years and slowly collecting all of the parts, I finally got around to at least starting to build a Cat-0 3-point for my 582 while I was back at home between Christmas and New Years. I'm trying to correct a couple of shortcomings in the original design, namely the lack of any provision for greasing the rockshaft, and the fact that to repair slop in the rockshaft due to wear, it has to be cut out of the hitch and a new one made. The hitch on my 782D is very worn and has a lot of slop from the rockshaft and bushings wearing out. Someday I'll have to cut it apart and make a new rockshaft for it.
To overcome this on the hitch I am building, I'm installing bronze bushings in the rockshaft pivot and a grease fitting on each side to allow them to be lubricated. Attachment 19304 Attachment 19305 Consequently, the rockshaft can't be welded together, so all three of the arms on it will be attached with 5/16" spirol pins to allow disassembly to replace the bushings as necessary. Attachment 19306 Attachment 19307 Attachment 19308 I worried for years about welding the bushings into the plate without warping something and making the rockshaft stick, but luckily there were no problems. I have no idea when I'll finish this for good, though; while I have bought most of the other parts, and only have a few small parts to make, I still have to add hydraulic lift before I can finish the hitch, and that's going to be quite a project. I also have no real need to finish this in the near future, so maybe in another 5 years it'll be done:ROTF1: |
Matt where did you get that back plate?

The next one I build after this will be done with readily-available raw materials only...I'm not counting on being able to find another one of these bagger plates. |
Great work Matt! I'll still be here waiting for you to finish it!:biggrin2:

Nice work. It never made sense why the rockshaft was welded together inside the bagger plate.
Don't worry, the next five years will fly by and you'll have it done. |
Thanks Matt now I need find one for my diesel. Great work!!!!!
