PTO Question

I'm going to adjust the PTO on my 680 and just want to make sure I do it right. It says in the owners manual to adjust it to .010-.015 inches, but if the brake plate drags on clutch increase air gap to .020 inches. My question is, does that mean that you adjust it when the pto is engaged or disengaged?
Thanks.

You can't adjust it with it engaged because the air gap is zero when it is engaged.

It should be disengaged to set the air gap.

Ok, thanks. I just didn't want to mess anything up. It was probably a self explanatory question?
