782 and snowblowers

Will a QA42 Snowblower work on an 782 or is the design different on 82 series?

Thanks guys

NO......

The correct snowthrowers and snowblowers for the 82 Series tractors were:

* QA42B 42" Snowthrower
* H42 & H48 Haban 42" & 48" Snowblowers
* 190-364-100 45" Snowblower
* 190-450-100 45" Snowblower

The pulley on the snowblower is small for a 1/2 belt, you can get a wider pulley from your I.H. dealer. about $50.00. The exaust on a 782 comes out the front, right on the shoot, seems to heat the shoot. I had to ease into the snow to avoid plugging

I thought i read somewhere about the pulley width before....The 82's use a 5/8th width I believe...

"Ease into the snow"....??? from the heated chute or overloading the blower?

I take it you have a 42QA on yours?

Thanks

The QA42A was intended for the Quietline Series Cubs.

The QA42B was intended for 82 Series Cubs.

You can adapt a QA42A to make it work on the 82 Series. You have adapt to make it like a QA42B by:

* Changing the Drive Pulley from 1/2" to 5/8" belt width. (IH-78055-C1)
* Acquiring and using the "curved" upper mounting links.

I did change the pulley, the brackets I did'nt, (maybe thats why it was a bear Install alone) The brackets must raize up the blower better, as I remember,it did sit low when raized up. I kept my 782 backed in a 40+ degree garage, and if I didnt let the shoot cool, she would plug up. If I left the mower running while chatting with the guys next door, it would heat up the shoot, and plug. The 782 was overkill, for my driveway, now I just use a little snowpup, and if we get a monster snow the guy next door cleans me out with a green thing.(ouch)

If I am not mistaken Cub did make an exhaust deflector that bolted onto the exhaust pipe and deflected the heat out to the right side, keeping it from hitting directly onto the blower shoot. I think they can still be purchased if not from cub then possibly from our sponsors. Or have a pipe made up to angle out and away that you can bolt onto the exhaust pipe.

On the H42 and H48 blower there is a heat deflector on the blower. Heat just not come from the exhaust it also comes from the front of the engine. The engine is air cooled and all of the air is blown out to the grill.
You may be able to make one real easy.
