Battery Questions

When I rescued my 149 it only had a small lawnmower battery in it. I had a used one laying around that held a charge so I put it in. My question is that Im wondering what size batt should be in there? My tractor seems to turn over a lot slower than all the ones I see in videos. Thanks Everyone.

Your 149 should have a regular garden tractor battery that you can buy at the farm store or Walmart. Any place with batteries should sell them. Most likely you need to check your grounds and connections on your tractor. Make sure they are clean and tight. If that dosent help, the starter generator may need to be cleaned up if it was sitting outside for long periods of time. Just my experiences...

I like the NAPA batteries. I would find something with a bit more than 300 CCA. That should get it spinning faster along with cleaning and checking all of your positive and negative cables as mentioned above. The negative cables need to have good clean polished metal to metal to make a good connection.

Walmart? I'm a Deka man myself. Ya, thay are a little more but I hate shopping at a place that tries to put the little guy out of business. I think I'll spend $5 more and keep jobs in the good ole USA.:TwoCents:

The biggest CCA battery that will fit in the compartment that is USA made.

Oak, I agree, but 20 K tuition for college and 40 dollar batteries dont mix.
