Gear Drive Trany Oil
 
Looking to change transmission oil in my 108, the mnual said only add as needed but i see people do it all the time so I guess I will too. What oil to use? And where to get it. I am looking for a quality oil to put in this trany. Thanks for the help.

HyTran just like the hydro's use. Your Cub Cadet dealer will have it. It takes 7 pints to fill a manual transmission.

In the Ih service manual for 70/100 it says hytran OR SAE-30 Motor oil. gear drives are pretty hardy, im going to use sae30. :BlahBlah: i hope i didnt start another fluid fight lol

That is right, Original thru 1X4/1X5 can use either. Hytran in everything else except an original with a Danco UD-6 creeper unit. That requires SAE-140.

I'm using SAE 30 motor oil in my 122 and have noticed much improved performance compared to the water-infused mess that was removed from it. It was not easy to roll in neutral when I first bought it. No problem now.

OK some needs to explian to me why a good syn gear oil wouldn't be better than HYD oil. :bigthink:

I am sure many owners of these gear driven tractors put in what ever they had. My 106 had some heavy gear oil in it before I changed it with Hytran. I put 30 wt in my 122. They both operate good and shift nice.
