K341 Fit into a wide frame Cub

Hey guys, I have a chance to get a K341 motor. Will any k341 fit into a wide frame cub without any modifications to the block?
A buddy of mine gave me a couple of old motors and told me that the oil plug section on the side of the block will need to be cut off and welded up for it to fit into the tractor. I have not seen a mock up to understand it better.
I would hate to pass up getting this 16 hp motor if it does not fit because I ain't liking the idea of cutting up a block and welding it back up to make it fit.

Appreciate any help.

If it isn't a Cub-style narrow-base block, it won't work.

Hey Matt, as far as you know, are the cubs the only ones with the narrow base blocks? I know that the wheel horse blocks are wide, but not sure about the Ariens, Ford, etc.
Are you aware of any of the "block modifications" that I mentioned above to make them work?

I got one out of a snapper 1600 and it fit perfect.

Thanks Jed..........that is the kind of info I was looking for. The motor that I was looking at was out of a Jacobsen it was over 50 miles away and I couldn't find anyone to confirm what fits or what don't without driving all of the way up there. It was a good deal $125.00 for a running motor...........opportunity is gone if it would have worked though.
I'll make sure that I look for the Snapper mowers as well.

Take an oil pan from a cub with you see if it will work. :bigthink:

That might have worked, as I think Jacobsen and Ford are the same, and I know Ford used engines with the "A" suffix and had a similar oil pan to the Cubs. The crank is probably weird though...really, it's simpler just to get a CC-spec engine. Those are generally easier to find, too.

Would take an oil pan.....if I was so lucky to have one.
May go get this on Sunday if it is still there. Going to call a buddy tomorrow
and see if he has access to one that I can take a picture of and/or some measurements.

In case you didn't catch it in my previous post, make sure the crank will work, too. I've seen something (can't remember what) with the Cub-style block and a really different crankshaft that will not work with a Cub Cadet at all. If you have to change the crank, it doesn't really make sense to go this route if you're trying to save money.

Hey Matt, Gotcha on the post about the crankshaft.
Not going to mow with the tractor so that would be just fine if it was a different size.
