Hello, First time I've joined any type of chat. I have a 1450 Cub I love, but last year it started having issues. Broke the front pully bar and replaced with stainless. Then it was the coil. After about a month is started acting like it was running out of gas sputtering. New gas, spark plug, air filter, spark plug cable, and the same issue. Now I started last weekend to really look into the problem again and fuel dripping out of the carb and I connect direct to the starter and it wont turn over. I could use some ideas on what to start with. I paid 600 for it 3 years ago and put it through hell for 3 weeks then used it like a mower.
Thanks Harry :bash2: |

Sounds like your float is stuck and it needs a good carb rebuild. |

Don't tap on the starter. It has thin magnets on the wall of the case that can break. It could just need new brushes. It sounds like the carb needs gone over. That's not a difficult task if you haven't done one. If you haven't found it yet, there is a technical library on this site that should help. These guys know there cubs and are willing to help to. |
Thanks
I will start going thru the carb this weekend and pulling the starter. Is there much difference since its also the altenator? I've got a great place up the road that rebuilds almost everything for a reasonable price.

Welcome. Having just rebuilt a S/G it turns out it is not too hard of a job to do yourself. If it is a standard S/G get a repair kit and with that you can replace the bearings and brushes. If you do not feel comfortable you always have the shop nearby.
